1.30 has messed up Castile.
As of the recent update, I feel that after around, 7 or 8 retries and restarts, Castile is broken, the Iberian wedding NEVER fires, after all 8 attempts, only once have I see an Iberian Wedding, the Isabella event has only ever fired once, and Juan II never ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dies, like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I must be the unluckiest man on earth because I commonly burn through like 3 or 4 heirs and this ♥♥♥♥♥ STILL won't die.

Like it was already kind of irritating before the recent update but I feel like it's gotten even worse.

P.S. I know that these events have specific requirements to be met, the problem is I can't ever get them, like Iberian Wedding you and Aragon have to have opposite gender rulers etc, but that's the problem, my ruler won't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die so I can never get a female heir on the throne, before she dies from some inexplicable random event that just makes her dead, or I get a new male heir for no reason, Aragon literally never gets a female ruler, so the chances of Iberian Wedding now are slim to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ none.
Like, wasn't the Iberian Wedding supposed to be a historical event that actually happened? Couldn't they have at least made it easier to happen based on that fact? I get them not wanting to make Castile/Spain too powerful but they didn't have to make it nearly impossible to get a historical event to fire.

I've noticed Aragon tends to release Naples, by event. Naples immediately rivals aragon (since naples has cores on siciliy) and then castile allies Naples and they gang bang aragon. Later Spain is just a backwater.

This is in SP

Them releasing Naples isn't the issue, the issue is Castile is gimped in the beginning because the game does everything in it's power to make sure you don't get Iberian Wedding, or basically PU Aragon in general, you can't even just continue on with your Mission to kill Grenada since they always ally both Morocco and Tunis, who combined have far superior Navies than you can afford to have, and more than likely armies that are on terms with yours, having Aragons Navy really helps with that war, and since Aragon will NEVER go to war with you at that time because of "Favors", you're essentially ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I know this isn't just me, one of my friends has stated that in the 2 games he's played as different nations (Papal States and Austria), Castile never got Iberian Wedding, so PDX just kind of broke it.

Nah, just poor RNG, I had the IW fire around 1455 in one of my 1.30 campaigns as England
zammerson Jun 10, 2020 @ 9:56pm
Poor RNG for like 8 tries in a row? I even sat around and waited till 1530 and nothing, and at the time of this post I have already done another run and still nothing.

That's some trash game mechanics ngl man, like imagine playing a strategy game and getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of an important event because the RNG didn't like you.

I love this game but I don't think it loves me back.

See, what they could, or better yet, should do, is make it so the Iberian Wedding is similar to the current Burgundian Inheritance Event chain, maybe have certain event fire off over time that can influence weather or not you get it, and on the historical date when it happened an event will fire off and will give you something based on how you did the event chain, so that way you can have a much better chance if not nearly guaranteed to get IW, so long as you, you know, played your cards right and played smart, like a strategy game should be, rather than sitting around praying to the sky that the game doesn't ♥♥♥♥ you for the 9th consecutive time in a row...

There are just these runs, that make you feel like everything in the game is trying to sabotage you. In one campaign as France the 'Maine' event would not fire - for 20 years! Regarding Iberia I have observed quite a variety of things in my failed attempts elsewhere.

Castille with PU Aragon eating away Southern France from England with PU France
Castille eating Aragon with the help of Portugal
All Iberian powers allying and conquering together their respective holdings in Africa
Aragon conquering the coastline towards Genoa

Regarding events
Juan II fired realiably with Aragon being able to keep with PU over Navarra.
Unlike the devs told, AI Aragon always seem to give up Naples.
Iberian wedding fires reliably 80/20 in the 1470/80s
zammerson Jun 10, 2020 @ 10:44pm
Even if it fires in 1470, what am I supposed to do before then? without the help of Aragons Navy I am no match for the fat combined navies of Morocco and Tunis, so I can't even take Grenada, I'm essentially just sitting around doing nothing and praying for IW to fire.
See the problem is I am not the AI, I prefer things to be more precise and less chaotic, a little chaos and randomness is fine, but if Castile is a Player they should always get IW imo, it's really not that fun if you don't get it because you also, btw, still cucked out of a mission tree since you didn't get Aragon.

You're also ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of doing the big thing that people play Castile for, forming SPAIN.
zammerson Jun 10, 2020 @ 10:47pm
Sure you COULD just conquer Aragon, but why would they make you go through the troubles of conquest when with the roll of a dice you could just get it for free? It doesn't make sense, if you're going to give the player an option to just own Aragon through an event that, remember, is historically SUPPOSED to happen, then make it happen!

Maybe this ♥♥♥♥ is fine with most people, but as you can clearly tell I am not a very lucky individual, games like this always screw me over because I never get RNG in my favor, frankly I am baffled by how many people are okay with getting screwed by it, but I guess it makes sense they wouldn't mind seeing as I am the only poor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that gets screwed over this much.
