Oirat not capturing the Emperor

So I've started a game as Oirat, trying out a quick and chill horde game before the new patch.
From what I understood, I had to defeat the Ming emperor in a battle to get a powerful buff etc.

However, as many times as I've tried this, it's never happened. I've beaten the guy several times, so I'm wondering if I'm just incredibly unlucky, or if I'm missing something?

I also tried besieging Beijing, thinking that I would get control of northern China, but similarly nothing happened when I took it!

Please help me out!

You can only capture the emperor if Ming had the event "The Tumu Crisis" (flavor_oir.1). This event has an MTTH of 1 month, but it can only happen once Ming is at war with Oirat and if they have a ruler with less than 2 mil points and are not in a regency. Maybe you were just too fast and Ming had not gotten the event yet or their starting ruler died before the event.

That event only happens if you have captured the emperor.
