Can a colonial nation form a colonial nation?
I was playing Andhra and ended up in Colonial Mexico and created a colonial nation there. I released that nation and continued playing as that nation and formed Mexico.

Then as Mexico I started to colonize Australia, but for some reason no colonial nation is forming there, even though I have already 7 cores there (Australia is one region and one colonial region).

Can a former colonial nation not form a new colonial nation? Or what is happening here?

No its impossible for a nation that has a capital in the new world or australia to form a colonial nation. The land will just go to you if you colonize it.

Hm, so if I would play as Aztecs (or some other native nation on the west coast of the americas) , reform and get exploration etc. They would not be able to create a colonial nation in Australia either?

Or is the restriction only for former colonial nations?

Oh, what if some European nation would move their capital to N America? Can they then form a colonial nation in S America or Australia?

(anyone else having trouble reaching eu4wiki.com?)

Any nation with capital in colonial region can not form colonial nations anywhere. Does not matter if you are former colonial nation or native american or european nation who moved their capital to colonial region, you still do not get colonial nations.

You can still colonize obviously, but new colonies will be exactly like normal provinces once finished.

Also notice that if nation with capital in colonial region attacks colonial nation, the overlord of colonial nation is not called into war.

And if you have your capital in a Colonial Region and then move it outside of any Colonial Region (e.g. as Aztecs move your capital to Europe) all your New World/Australia provinces immediately form CNs.

You need 50% of your total development in the continent you want to move it to, so it gonna be really hard now

Oh never tried that before, but good to know that this will happen. This is kind of annoying imo. By the time you can actually wage war on European nations as natives, you must have grown a lot already. But I guess they don't want us to deviate from history too far :/

I don't play as natives in the Americas anymore. It annoys me that it is pretty much a waiting game until you can reform. Even though for some weird reason you can develop gunpowder and cannons on your own, but for building ships , you need the reform. It feels like a very arbitrary restriction.

I did it once for fun in my Sunset Invasion game: After getting the achievement I moved my capital to Europe (before the recent capital movement restrictions) just to become Revolutionary Aztecs.
