Can I disable ironman mode?

So I'm getting close to the end of an ironman Byzantium game (the year is 1791.) But I dont want it to be over, i have grown attached to the empire i have built and there is so much I still want to do. I need to crush Russia and Spain and I have so many more vassals I want to create. So I was wondering if there was a way I could disable ironman mode so I could use the extended timeline mod and keep playing.

Short answer: No, but...

Long Answer:
0) Backup your save.
1) Write down the in-game date of when you saved. You'll need it for later.
2) Change the extension of the save from .eu4 to .zip
3) Extract the gamestate file into the save games folder. Ignore the other files.
4) Add .eu4 to the gamestate file
5) Force the game to load gamestate.eu4. It'll complain, but you should manage.
6) Don't Unpause! Save an uncompressed non-ironman save.
7) Open your new save in Notepad++ and change the date at the begging of the file to the date the ironman save was at. This is important, cause otherwise a lot of things will be weird.
8) Load the save you made.

Note that when I did this the games date was bugged and I had to edit the save with Notepad++ and change the date at the beggining of the file to the proper one the Ironman save was at.

I am amazed that this works, thanks, fairly straightforward process, seems to function fine as of 1.30. Figure it's worth a necro, especially since this is an often-asked question.

Having to fix the date isnt perfect but frankly the whole thing takes a minute and everything else seems perfectly fine. Thumbs up.

I'm surprised it still works, but that's good. I edited my post a little bit to make it more clear.

But I have to change the date using the console in game. I opened the file with npp but it was unreadable and cannot find any date.

It will give you a savefile that will be same as your current one but without Ironman

5/12/2022 V1.33.3.0 France. Works perfectly (I thought it crashed my game, but it turns out that resetting your Steam password force closes all Steam apps.

1.34.3.0 Sweden Update and it still works BUT if you rename the edited file into gamestate and but it back into the save the games realizes that you edited the file and disables achievements. My best guess it's because it's not encrypted as the others.
Anybody knows a way around this?
