Best country to form Prussia
I am a new eu4 player and want to do a run where I form prussia and after that maybe germany. I was sondering wich nation was best for that. (Keep in mind I have less then 20 hours and dont want do anything spectaculair. Just form prussia and germany andere have some fun.) Some advice on which ideas I should pick in what order for set nation would be great as well. And of course general tips are great too!

well bohemia is kinda easy pick, if you culture convert few provinces.. take berlin, vasalise pomerania, take stolp, by the time poland probably got danzig provinces, but they should be easy to beat, if you ally austria or muskovy

Teutonic Order is the better country but it requires Diplomacy to avoid getting eaten by Poland. Brandenburg would be second since you are protected by being in the HRE.

Neither is a new player friendly nation and I would recommend checking out some guides on youtube if you want to try either.

brandenburg and teutonic order are the easiest, although they dont have the potential that some of the others do (poland, denmark, bohemia).
the standard and intended choice would be brandenburg. they are an elector in hre and are unlikely to be attacked by non hre forces.
elector status is important, because of the vote, kingdom status and it will allow you stay in the hre when forming prussia.
the teutonic order is "harder" because poland will almost always attack you.
you can however ask the emperor for hre membership if he likes you enough (for protection).

Teutonic order by far, but you need to follow a very specific early game sequence to avoid quite a lot of trouble that would cause a new player to fail entirely. Otherwise Poland is easiest, but requires culture conversion and not forming Commonwealth.

IMO Brandenburg if you are able to ally Poland and possibly Austria, just make sure Poland doesn't take your provinces and you should be fine.

For the new player, Brandenburg is best for one reason:

It is unlikely to horribly mess up when playing straightforward (no tricks are needed). Just ally Austria and you are good to go.

Many years ago, Brandenburg was one of my earliest runs as a newbie. I recall doing quite well despite being rather clueless, and it was a very enjoyable run. The purpose of that run was to form Germany for the 'Early Reich' achievement.

I checked my stats and I achieved that just 1 month after buying the game.

A year later I got the 'Fine Goosestep' achievement (have to be Prussia), though I must admit I did it as Teutonic Order.

Brandenburg is easiest imo. There's a guide from Radio Res on youtube that covers what you should do at the start.

Did you know that prussia and Brandenburg have the same national ideas?. Only difference is militarization and it decays according to the number of provinces, is meant to be played tall never expand

Actually you might want to disregard some of what Ultrix said if your goal is to form Germany. To form Germany you need to conquer a large portion of the HRE and you don't need any of Polish or Lithuanian land for that. So, do what he said in the beginning but forget about allying Muscovy and preparing to go after Poland/Lithuania. Going after them doesn't exactly stop you from conquering the German lands for forming Germany but for a new player it can be hard to deal with all that so it's better to just concentrate on the German lands you need for Germany.

Muscovy can be a powerful ally but they are a long way from Germany and often will not join your offensive wars in the west because of "distant war". Austria(if emperor) also won't join you in wars inside the HRE and in defensive wars outside the HRE the emperor will join you even if you're not allied. Although if you are allied with the emperor they won't demand unlawful territory, so that can be helpful if you can get other powerful allies. But if you can't get powerful allies it's better to have four weaker allies or vassals than having three weaker allies plus Austria who will not help you to take HRE land.

If you can manage it, Poland can actually be a very powerful ally for your wars in the HRE but most of the time they consider you a rival or otherwise hate you so it can be hard to get them as an ally. You don't want to ally Pomerania and Brandenburg since those are your first nations to conquer. Also, allying Bohemia is a double edged sword because you could just end up helping them gobble up all the land you needed yourself and then you'll need to fight a powerful Bohemia that you yourself helped create.

Well thanks for the advice Tohtori. Ill keep that in mind. But my main focus for this run is to form Prussia and maybe Germany if that works out. It doesn't really matter though if I don't manage to form Germany
