Subject Violted Treaty of Tordesillas

My Junior Partner, Portugal is colonising land that I have claimed through the treaty of Tordesillas with no negitve penielties, but when I try to colonise the Carribiean, which is claimed by portugal, I get a negitve modifer. (I am Catholic Spain)

There is no mod about that, the treaty is signed when you get a Colonial nation in that region, let's say Colombia, then you get all provinces claimed by you, as the Pope sign it, every nation who violates it get - 200 relation with the claimant nation and the Pope

It only affects Catholic nations tho, if you are Protestant or Muslim you can do whatever you want in that region. But I suspect Portugal is still Catholic, could be that PU counts as same country somehow.

Not quite sure what you're disputing. From what I remember, it's been called the Treaty of Tordesillas since it was implemented.

Are you sure you actually had the event pop for that region? It isn't an automatic thing just because you formed a CN in the area.

the real treaty of tordesillas pertty much spilt the world between portugal and spain

seems pertty odd to call it the treaty of tordesillas when its nothing like the real treaty (other then the claims to the new world part) google the treay of tordesillas its nothing like what it is in game

Yes but they implemented the treaty as a way to "give" a colonial region to the nation who can get a CN there first. It has nothing to do with the real treaty, it's just a mechanic they created to emulate it. You shouldn't try to think about it too much to be honest.
