Do you have the rights of man DLC?
I had a look at the game code and it seems that the event wants to make her a queen consort if you have the rights of man DLC. But that probably doesn't work if you have a regency.
I think having the rights of man DLC is causing the problem. Without it, she would become your ruler. But with Rights of Man the game tries to make her a queen consort. But a regency council doesn't have a consort. I think that you should report it as a bug in the Bug report forum[forum.paradoxplaza.com]
You are absolutely correct. Gee, I never thought a DLC would screw something up so hardcore and cause such a massive bug. With the Rights of Man DLC, Women in History can't fire properly at all, for any of the events that give you a ruler during a Regency, for this exact reason. It means all the Ottoman ruler events are borked (which is gonna really hit me hard in this save as my Heir is absolute garbage so my momentum is gonna get murdered). Paradox really needs to stop borking their own crap, this is annoying.
I would report it over there, but I got a ban for the last few bugs I reported and refused to take "no" for an answer on when I wanted it all fixed. Their forums are absolutely the worst I have ever been too, it's like the gestapo over there. I guess Women in History is just useless now because they're a bunch of incompetent fools. *sigh*
Maybe it has something to do with things that you say that may be intended as exaggeration, but can be interpreted as lying as well. For example in the title of this thread you said "EVENTS DON'T WORK" even though there was only one event that didn't work for you. And in your last comment you said "With the Rights of Man DLC, Women in History can't fire properly at all, for any of the events that give you a ruler during a Regency, for this exact reason.". But I couldn't find any other event that has that problem. I looked through the game code for all the Women in history events which require a regency and the "Nurbanu Sultan" was the only one which doesn't make the woman a ruler.
And in what way did you ask for a fix? Do you have a special contract with Paradox that entitles you to get bugfixes? I didn't read the EULA for eu4, but I expect it contains a clause that says that the game is sold as it is. I think almost all end-user software contains such a clause in one way or another. Getting guaranteed bugfixes usually requires a support contract which costs a high monthly fee(thousands of dollars or more)
on a minor DLC
in a minor event that rarely happens
you are making WAY too big of a deal of this
