port eu4 to the ds
hi so i recently found out that eu4 does NOT support the ds after a long time of assuming it does... because why would it not...

Ok so this thread is simple, it’s suggesting to port eu4 to the ds!!!!!!

Ok so the top screen displays the map

The bottom one is for managing things that you would use the mouse to manage on PC and for typing in things

A is left click

B is right click

Y is for zooming out

X is for zooming in

D-pad is for being used like a mouse for the map on the top screen

Start brings up the menu

Select is to be used like shift

L slows the game

R speeds the game

Multiplayer can be paired together with 2 ds devices close together as alternative to the internet, but it can still be used

Can eu4 PLEASE be ported to the ds? I wanna be able to play EU4 on my ds. It may be powerful enough to run it probably but the dsi is fast and the dsi runs ds games so that’s compatable and good too. The 3DS I think is even faster and it can run ds games too so the compatability is still there!!!!!!

Uhm....the DS would die upon starting the game.

There are multiple problems with converting EU4 to Nintendo DS:

-DS screen is 256 × 192 pixels, that is very-very small to include the map that on PC uses 1920x1080 pixels

-it also has no real CPU or enough memory to handle the game Ai that starts to lag even on modern PC. And while you could theoratically reduce visible map details you still need to go through all the AI decisions to move their troops and manage diplomatics and economy, these things require CPU speed

-pretty much whole game is about clicking buttons and picking menu items, which in DS is complicated. Yes you could perhaps emulate mouse clicks with DS buttons but it gets pretty annoying pretty fast

-DS is not even manufactured by Nintendo anymore. And while 3DS is, their current console is instead Nintendo Switch. If you start to convert the game now, and we can assume it will couple of years at least, you are able to release it 2021 or later, it would make little sense to release DS game that year

-converting PC game to Nintendo systems is not easy. Converting PC game to XBOX or PS4 is much easier as these consoles are basically stripped down PCs anyway

I am not even sure EU4 should be converted to mobiles, which these days are much more capable devices. Much of the problems would still remain, for example trying to control game based on mouse clicks with the fat fingers while covering most of the visible screen with hand. Not to mention that average price of mobile game is still near 0.

yep, blazing fast

CPU: The DSi has two ARM architecture CPUs: ARM9 clocked at 133 MHz and ARM7 clocked at 33 MHz.[97] Its ARM9 is twice as fast as previous models.[94][98]
RAM: 16 MB (four times as much as previous models)[76]

to be fair tho, that is an excessive amount of ram so it just might work

Yeah...no.

It may be "fast"but phones released today are faster than the 3DS and even they would die from this game.

Nintendo: "We make fun games that don't make you think hard!"

Op: "Hey, can you put a pc game on the DS which is a dead handheld!"

Nintendo" "No! :D"

Um DS doesn't exist anymore... It would be a good Nintendo Switch export though. 10/10 would buy.

I mean its already on the gameboy color, so the DS isn't that much of a stretch
