How do I conquer Cyprus?
So the thing is: year is around 1590, I`m playing as the Ottomans, doing really great - controlling the whole Anatolia, doing ♥♥♥♥ to unite Islam, makin` Mamluks suCC and etc.

Then I decided that I want that juicy Cyprus! Declared war on it - and then realized, that the only freaking fort in the only freaking province of the whole island prevents me from invading them!

So, guys, are they even beatable like this? Is it possible to somehow land there? `Cos u know, I`ve just blockaded their only port and they`ve been sitting there blockaded on an island for like 2 years now...

Build transport ships, move troops into transport ships, move transport ships to Cyprus, move army onto Cyprus, siege Cyprus.

He left out the "win fight against defending army" part but yeah, what he said. The 12 transports you start with should be enough to win...

You need to have enough transports that can move enough troops to win a battle with penalties from fighting in enemy fort while moving from ships to land. Twice the amount Cyprus has should be enough.

Well, I was moving in like 14k against their 7, but ok, I`m gonna try with 20 or more. Thanks to everyone.

anphibious assualt them, as soon as troops land and combat starts move transports to port and bring another army. you should have just enough time to reinforce combat

Make sure the first group you send has a general. Auto-transport of troops when the stack has to be split due to the army being more numerous than your transports will always leave the general behind on the beach...

Split your stack before you transport and put the general in the first group.

Amphibious assault penalty for armies makes 0 sense in medieval times. Landings in those times were almost never opposed because they simply happened too fast to counter and it would have been really dumb for a defender to rush out of a castle only to fight at a beach. Much easier to fight from walls.

This fellow Kraut above is perfectly right, this penalty is unrealistic

Yes, but in this instance you are not facing just a fortress with a garrison, you are facing an army as the OP indicated was 7000 strong located on the island. Perhaps it would be realistic for them not to assault while enemy is landing or perhaps they wouldnt bother destroying food and other wargoods as it was landed.
