From the wiki: If the total number of guns from the hunting fleet is greater than twice the total number of guns from pirating fleet, the pirating efficiency is reduced by 99%.
1 Barque has 13 Cannons. The early Carrack has 40.
You should also consider that there are relation penalty up to -100 (-1 per Month) for all nations in the genoa node with a trade share of 15% or more. Nations with 20% gain a CB against you.
This could potentially complicate the iberian wedding event.
If you're unable to raise the relations with Aragon and Naples fast enough, you will lose both PU's.
Well, Aragon started as my rival and I don't know how to convince them to stop being it. In my last game I even tried to improve relations as much as I could sending a diplomat, but they maintained the rival status.
Nevertheless you should improve relations with them. Try to avoid a war.
There is an event called the iberian wedding in the game.
Prerequisites are:
Year between 1450 and 1530
The rulers of Castille and Aragon have a different gender.
or
Aragon has a regency and is controlled by the AI. (IF you play as Castille)
This event will give you Aragon and potentially Naples as Personal Unions.
At Admin Tech 10 there is decision to then intergrate Aragon and form Spain.
That's a difficult possibility. Our families are basically a sausage party, and their heir is 48. So unless both the father and the son die so, perhaps, I can get a regency there, there's nothing I can do.
There is of course always the possibility of the event for Isabella of Castille (Free DLC Woman in History required). Can trigger between 1450 up to 1504. Prerequisites are: Male ruler, no heir.
On the other hand if you have the Rights of Man DLC you can simply disinherit your heir/s until you get the desired gender for an heir.
