What is ducats?
Is ducats your treasury or what?

Yes, it's your treasury. Make sure to save it up, and not go into debt! You use it to make buildings in your country.

Ducats is the name of currency used in EU4. I usually call it "gold", but it could be more confusing as there are also actual gold mines in the game.

Ducats are a trade currency used during this period and the late medeival ages. There were a few different varieties but it was reasonably standardized, at least around Europe, with the Florentinian model being the standard for a lot of it.

Ducats in game just refers to money. (similarly to British Pounds being used Victoria for their generic currency)

you could say for every 1 ducat you own, its actually a hundred RL ducats, so its a more centralised model since provinces can contribute less than one ducat in tax, production etc. Least thats how i always figured money was in this game.
