Why don't my confucian colonial nations attempt to convert provinces?
I'm playing as Ming and I colonised a bit of South America. My colonial nation subject has my religion, but does not attempt to convert hostile Christianity. I don't understand why? They're a rather large nation now, but because they don't bother converting any captured regions they keep getting rebellions that I have to put down. I never had this problem playing as a Christian nation. Is it a bug?

My best guess would be that confusian CNs just don't pick religious ideas and thus lack conversion power or the tolerance of christianity is above 0, then AIs just rarely convert.

Confuciasm isnt supposed to convert, pretty sure AI wont do as well

Confucians are not supposed to convert, they are supposed to harmonize. AI's suck at it though.

If I remember correctly (game directly after MoH came out, I don't want to change game version just to check the savegame):
In my Manchu -> Qing game my later colonial nations (first two of course Tengri) were Confucian und seemed to harmonize the Pagan group, as at one point Nahuatl/Inti/... (and later even Christianity) no longer counted as wrong religion in the Religion Map Mode.

And once a religion is harmonized its provinces can no longer be converted as the religion is "absorbeb" into Confucianism and treated as a part of it.

you could try converting for them maybe? Or is that just vassals?

Converting CNs is possible but I don't know if it works if you or your CN has harmonized the target religion before.

The problem is my colonial nation won't harmonize Catholicism even though they make up more than half the provinces of the CN. I've been trying to convert them, but I cannot convert provinces that are already in the CN. What I've been doing is attacking Spanish colonies and taking the regions for myself, then converting, then coring. Once cored they then go to my colonial nation. The only issue with this is that it eats Monarch Points, adds overextension for longer and is time consuming. In my other play throughs I'd pass control to my CN before a peace deal and they'd get the provinces uncored. They'd then use their monarch points instead, then convert the province. Alas, it doesn't work in this play through. :(

Harmonizing takes 34 years without events, tho you SHOULD only start around 80-100 or else you drop close to 0

If the AI only does it around 100 it could take well up to 60+ years upon creating the colony until it finished harmonizing

Oh right. I never bothered with harmonizing. I all out just converted everything haha. Hopefully my CN does do it sometime soon then. It certainly has been a while.
