Truce break questions
So I am playing as Fars/persia. i attack ottomans and russia who i have a truce with joins their war how does that work? so if i get attacked by ai and my ally has a truce they wont join but the ai ally always would even with truce doesnt make much sense. not that it would be hard for me to conquer both just wondering what consitutes a truce break for ai

Are you sure about that? Didn't your ally refuse to join you in war for a myriad of other reasons (debt, hostile leader, whatever)?

I'm definitely certain that I can declare war to Russia, have a 15 year truce, see them declare war on Nogaï or whatever, instantly ally Nogaï and get called into a defensive war. And I honestly see no reason for the AI to refuse a defensive call to arms if there's a truce, there's even the added detail that you can't declare co-belligerent someone you have a truce with (which implies that they have a truce, but will join in a defensive war).

its says only truce. i always pay my allies debts. cuz i am really good at keeping high gold income so i have the cash. but i think so aspects been kinda weird lately. or i am over looking something. i was just curious. like i just paid off commonwealth debt of 5k which is decent debt.

A truce won't block the ai from joining a defensive war, it only blocks offensive wars due to the massive stability hit they would take for accepting.

As previous posters have said, truces don't block defensive calls to arms.

That's actually something a player can take advantage of - for example you can really mess up Ming by repeatedly declaring war on each of it's tributaries, one immediately after the next, forcing Ming into a constant state of conflict until it's destroyed by debt and war exhaustion.

Or use it to quickly eviscerate a target nation rather than waiting out the 15 year truces or dropping 500 admin to truce break.

Truces work only for offensive wars. Truces are ignored when the nation joins on the defensive side.
