What's the point of parliament?
Playing as Britain after a long break and am dealing with new parliament mechanic. Seems silly so far as I just select something and bribe various MPs. Is their a point to this mechanic?

More flexible than the noble estate. For instance you can get integration cost decreases or an extra colonist+settler chance which can help you reach certain goals faster.

The alternatives are not amazing wither so nothing truly great is lost by taking it.

You can pick between many useful modifiers:

You don't HAVE to bribe and such and just trust to luck.

But is too cheap, and bribes make the effects start MUCH sooner.

I do agree that the process itself is meh, thorugh the effects are awesome. More missionaries to give rid of protestants, and more colonists.

I'd like to know what the criteria for yes votes is because I've had some small nations where they all vote yes without you having to do anything. That's the best position to be in as you get all the bonuses for free.

I bellive you lose almost always if you don´t influence the results; I definitedly had some times 60% in favour and STILL lose.

It's the biggest issue I have with EU4, a bunch of the "processes/mechanics" are just boring/a hazzle.

Religion being my main issue, such a snorefest.

It just seems like a mechanic that was thrown in for some reason. The bonuses are fine but it seems meh.

It is quite nice, I'd argue by far the best in that row of government selections, but yes, it is a "mehcanic"
