Also while playing as byzantium even with polish help(and plenty of savescums) I still got trashed
Help
Least thats how i play my Albanian anti-Ottoman strategy, isolate Bulgaria & Greece regions then take Thesally & Constantinople with a foothold into Anatolia.
Steal their castles that you want to keep (and can afford) and take provinces with buildings they construct (free temples, shipyards etc.) If you can't take a castle province yourself, release a nation (Morea for example, for south greece) ontop of it to just deny land and weaken the blob.

At least he is honest enough to not set his profile as private
Where do I go to buy it?
Billy Mays?
I've taken a fairly good chunk of time away from the game, and it's been awhile since I used the Byzantines to eat those pesky Ottomans, but.....
Light ships now get the bonus on inland seas? Did you mean to say Galley's, or did they move that buff over to light ships?
Because if they didn't, fielding light ships on an inland sea in a combat role is a recipe to get your ass ripped clean off and fed to you.
It's been awhile since I did it, Dec 15 was when I knocked out Bassileus, apparantly.
That being said, the way I went about it involved some hair trigger timing. Things have probably changed since then but....
I immediately improved relations with Albania and formed an Alliance with them (needed the alliance because serbia and bosnia were basically always starting allied on that patch) sent my troops to Albania, and declared a no cassus belli war against the Serbs for new lands (the trick here was getting to it before the Ottomans sent their warning, which required a number of retries to get the alliance and fire the war before hand). The extra troops and navy this affords you moves you a wee bit down the targetting list and buys you some time before the Ottomans come for you.
At that point I left Albania to hang when the Ottomans or Venetians inevitablly came calling and set about establishing relationships and alliances with the Hungarians and Polish.
At that point it's simply a matter of growing a bit where you have the opportunity (with some luck you can occasionally get an oportunity to poach some lands from the Venetians depending on what wars they go for), and kicking them in the...uhhh...kebabs when the opportunity presents.
Have taken venice and genoa though, and have gotten qara quoyunlu, muscovy and poland as allies and have now going to secure my foothold in the crimea, but my dream is still to take over the balkans and Kosovo as it has ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gold in it
Thankfully the ottomans haven't taken it yet
How do I do that?
I have insulted them, allied their rivals and pissed them to eternity by picking all the reclaim balkans mission but they still don't want to attack me
It's 1527 and I'm now officially itching for a war
Or should I just go with qara qoyunlu and Poland once the ottomans declare war on the mamluks for the 3rd time and hope for the best?
MAKE BYZANTIUM GREAT AGAIN!!!
