also im colonising because im playing a pretty peaceful game tfw me is implying that colonialism doesnt kill people in the process except for the occasional forced PU and france killing.

I sometimes name colonies after famous rulers, houses, or other individuals. I usually use Wikipedia to find lists.

I like to name my colonies after a few things:

Find out what the actual colony is named after, give it a twist based off your language

Name it after the colonist who colonized it, a good general/admiral, explorer who found it, current/past rulers, dynasty, states/provinces

Name it something fun like the Holy Sea as the Papal States for the Carribbean

I mostly use easy names like AustriBraz, AustriMex, AustriFlo...nowadays, because it keeps the subjects panel clean and easy (all grouped together)
Great when you have tons of subjects

Sometimes, i go for funny names like DaBank, Shemaland, Fattyland, Caribou...

The default names for restored HRE are Imperial Brazil, Imperial Mexico etc...

Deutschland is literally just Land of the People (in modern German, Land of the Germans). The HRE was commonly called "Heiliges Römisches Reich Deutscher Nation", and considering Austria was the head of it, they were clearly considered Germans. Another term was "Römisch-Deutsches Kaiserreich" which means Roman-German Empire; so a colony in America could be called "Amerikanisch-Deutsches Kolonie".

Don't be afraid of using Deutsch for anything, this is a time before the Kick-Austria's-Ass-Out-Of-Our-Nation Club got started.
