Truce when forced to break alliance?
Hey, I am currently playing as Austria and want to prevent the Italian states from leaving the HRE. I have conquered Venice and worked my way into central Italy. I only need Rome to take the decison to ultimately prevent the Shadow Kingdom event from firing. Thing is the Papal State was allied to my ally Savoy and I forced the pope to break their alliance. Now I want to attack the Papal State but I have a truce with them, but I can find no date or indication that I have a truce. Only when I want to declare war there are a list of penalties that breaking a truce entails. The year is 1489 and you can only take the decision before 1490 so I really need help.

The truce is one way - that is to say they can attack you but you cannot attack them.

However, forcing truce breaks is usually done in the opposite way, with a large nation forcing another nation to abandon a weak one they wish to conquer. So the usual way to use the function is to force Savoy to beak their alliance with the Pope, then attack the Papal states.

Since they are your allies you have other options as well. A very effective way to have them not join the war is to have them on another war on your side. If they are on your side in ANY war, they cannot join ANY war against you, even if you attack their allies.

Ever wanted to clean up a region but they're all allied to one big guy? Ally him, have him join a war with you, and keep that war going by not getting the wargoal. Once you're done don't give the guy any land and conquer his clay once the truce is done.
