Personal Union inheritance question
How does this work? Like what makes the chance to inherit a country (in my case Hungry, playing as Austria) go up or down?

After 50 years, the overlord nation can inherit their personal union subjects if the overlord has more provinces than the PU subject nation. Inheriting the PU subject can occur each time the ruler dies. This chance may be 0%; to see the probability, the player may hover over the king's name in the diplomacy screen. The main factors for inheritance chance are Diplomatic Reputation of the senior partner and the province count of the junior partner. The full probability can be calculated as 5 x Diplomatic Reputation (Senior) + Stability (Senior) + 5 if both partners share a culture group - 1 per province in the junior partner.

Note: Player-controlled nations will never be inherited on monarch death, though they may still be integrated manually by their overlord.

So to inherit I don't need more land than Hungry? Just to integrate? or is the -1 per land -1 for each province he has more than me?

Well, i guess you dont need more provinces per se, but you get a better chance if you have. Since hungary already has way more provinces than austria, i wouldnt count on an inheritance.

Shoot, I guess it would help then to go ahead and find my way into Africa then so I can expand without eating all my HRE friends.

Why dont you just integrate hungary? Austria has extremely high Diplomatic Reputation, especially with Diplomatic and Influence as ideas, so it should be pretty quick to integrate.

Because I don't have more provinces than him. I've been playing pretty passively and someone in a country just east of France decided not to die in the way that fires off a certain Inheritance event, so I need to expand first, then integrate.

having a lot of provinces won't help, Hungary's bignesss factor won't be effected. You can get a good chance to inherit if you stack dip rep like a fiend, something Austria is good at.
sounds good, I think I was at 6 last I checked.

My last Austria game I inherited Hungary at ~90% integration.

intergatration and inheritance are diffrent.

Inheritance you get him for FREE on Monach death based on dip rep, province count, stability. Its instant and not likly unless you blobed as Austria as Hungrys pretty big

Intergration, same as Diplo annexing a vassel only you have to wait 50 years not 10 to be able to do it, 190 relations and alot of dip points

Oh I see now, so I can't inherit him but I can integrate him.

You can do both, but inheriting is based on randomness and integrating is always possible, like diplo annexing a vassal.

You need to have more provinces then your junior partner to integrate them. Eat Naples or the Balkans or something. Maybe Otto's if you're brave or you have overwhelming forces.
