Mzab strategy?

Honestly I think this is one of the hardest countries I've played. Literally nobody will ally you, you cant RM because you're a theocracy, poor income, horrible land all around, and you're an Ibadi nation surrounded by Sunni land. How do you get a game with Mzab off the ground?
I played them a while back and was able to ally Morocco and conquer all of North Africa before the Iberians rekt me, but I can't even get an alliance with Morocco anymore, no matter how many times I restart. The furthest I've expanded so far is conquering Touggourt and Djerid and a few provinces from Tlemcen, but it hasn't helped much.
Any ideas?

Oddly enough, I found Pate to be easier for this achievment. I tried Mzab multiple times and failed. I even tried Yemen, but it was also hard and eventually gave up.

It took quite a few restarts as Pate, but eventually I expanded all the way to the Mutapa gold mines and had great income. The nearness to that gold made Pate easier than it would otherwise seem.

I will admit that this was done a while ago on an earlier game version.

I might add that Hungary was my main ally because she took religious ideas and hated the Ottos. I gave tons of Ottoman territory to Hungary in a bunch of wars to convert them to catholic.

I wasn't aiming for the Third Way, I just wanted to play Mzab and maybe go for it.
