From reading the wiki the Revolutionary Republic is one of the few republics without a penalty to max absolutism. You will lose a maximum of 10 from Legitimacy (but could gain 10), and you will lose the yearly tick that Tsardom gives.
I don't know what the 'Russia Specific Mechanics' are, but the state claim feature will be almost pointless at this stage. It seems to me that a Revolution will make you stronger militarily, but a Tsardom is better if you can already win wars.
My armies are super cheap (6.33 ducats per month to maintain a 50K 22/6/22 stack!), same about navies
My manpower is almost the same, old recruited streltsy are still there (even though i can't get them anymore). My morale is almost 10 at this point and discipline is close to being 120%
Except for that, I can annex a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of land in one war for little OE, AE and coring cost
Revolutionary Russia is truly a monstrosity noone would like to fight
