Anyone got much experience with Garhwal and/or have any advice on a particularly efficient path to play it?

its a 'nobody' nation situated between Nepal, jaunpur and delhi. I've never seen garhwal amount to anything as an ai. they usually get absorbed into Nepal or delhi. I've never played as them, but from what I gathered from the situation, just expand into the smaller fish and accumulate allies. promise land, don't give land etc. they're in the pretty unfavorable spot

i tryed it 3 times the last days without mandate of heaven.got pretty big one time but taking tirhut was to much at its time -the bengals/delhi crushed me soon after(jaunpur betrayed alliance).i think it will be easier with the mandate of heaven as ming will protect his tributaries...
but its not as hard as it seems.jaunpur is protecting you from delhi-if they can protect themselves(bengal-delhi alliance...)

Currently trying it under ming tributary protection. Timmies warned me for a few years which was annoying, but they're busy exploding atm.

current plan is to head towards bengal, timmy have rewarned, and persia have allied multan/kashmir

so far so good, it looks like. you have a few expansion opportunities. since you're a tributary slave no one notable is going to touch you. just keep snowballing and you'll get it in no time. it's pretty good that timurid is already falling apart. I'd start fabricating on those two provinces you border with tim, so that if Afghanistan breaks off of them, you can declare war immediately, before they have allies to guard them

Haven't played it yet, but by the looks of it you can just build loads of forts in your vassal and annex him. Vassals don't delete forts. It will cause your vassal to go bankrupt a lot, but that doesn't really matter that much.

34 personally held, 6 held by vassal, should be able to pick the remaining 12 from around hsenwi. Financing the forts is the next hurdle, tibet is full of mountains and crap for pressing the development button. =/

forting up vassals sounds interesting, but will avoid exploits for now.

also: india is a hugbox of death atm. if bengal becomes a ming tributary I expect pain.

you're doing that all in pretty good time. who are your allies?
Quicksilver Aug 1, 2017 @ 11:48am
initially juanpur, until they decided to suicide on bahamanis + malwa. currently persia and chagatai, although they're not interested in helping out. more there for discouraging the hugbox from getting ideas. ottoblob have expanded up to persia, which may make for interesting times.

building forts in your vassal is not an exploit. They intentionally put that in the game. The fortify march option is ofc only for Marches ( see http://www.eu4wiki.com/Subject_nation#Subject_interactions ), so in case you build forts in a march you still have to take the stab hit before you can start integrating (unless you have full diplomatic ideas).

my advice is keep as tributaries even if your development bigger than Ming.
