Enemy AI is genius, my ally AI is stupid

Hi. I have problem with military tradition and morale almost every game. But this time it is brutal. I play as Denmark, year is 1589 and is absolutely imposible to defeat Muscowy. Their military tradition is so high that their morale is twice compared to me! And of course their generals are excellent, my are useles. I just lost battle where i had 40,000 and Muscowy 23,000 men.

And best thing? My allies are Poland, Lithuania and Brandenburg. Morale of their armies is even worse then main! So be it. I cand deal with it. But there is one more thing - Muscowy AI plains excellent - their armies are close to each other and when battle start somewhere, their armies go help. And my allies? Nope. They split armies, send half somewhere to Karelia and half to beat superior muscowy armies. And even allies armies are close - no matter! There is a battle right in neigbor province and ally army is going elsewhere.

In absolute numbers we are much stronger (150,000 X 90,000) but for what it is in this situation? I am very frustrated by this.

Same happened in the real world. France used to have the strongest mainland army in europe, precisely because they were constantly at the center of a warzone.

My advice: pick defensive idea. Your first upgrade there is a +1 in army tradition, followed by 15% morale.

You also might be able to ally them if you dump Lithuania and Muscovy hasn't rivaled you. They don't usually target the scandinavian peninsula anyway, usually it's every direction except north.
Watch out though, being at the skims of europe and being so large, they usually progress through their institutions more slowly, so eventually you will probably outpace them in terms of tech.

The AI doesn't suddenly go from genious to 5 year old when it changes the alliance. That's simply not true. However, there is a clear ranking of what the AI is capable of coordinating properly. Don't ask me about concrete technical reasons, but in short it's:

"own armies > vasall's armies > PU's armies > allied armies". (Not sure about the last two. Might as well be on the same level of incompetence).

You can try to combat that somewhat by picking war goals, allowing attachement or attach yourself to an allied force. However, this is true regardless of whether you fight with or against the AI.

Furthermore your problem at hand seems at least as much a question of tech, army tradition and idea groups, so you might want to solve that first. If you provide further information I will gladly help you to puzzle it out.

Uh... did you check Russia´s tech before declaring war? Did they went Offensive/Quality? The AI can rush military tech... If Russia has better tech than anyone, Denmark is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Hell, even Sweden can´t rely on their NIs per se and DOES require Offensive or Quality to keep competitive after 1500.

Thanks for advices. War ended - white peace. Muscowy won every important battle, but their war ex. was simply too high. But there will be next war soon. I own Neva and Peterburg, they hate me. :D

I picked up quality ideas so my army tradition should be better, russians are on same technology level but i am western, they are eastern so i should have lead with time. With this I should be able to resist them.

Bad thing is I cant attack them in weak time (for example after long Timurid-Muscowy war, russians had huge debt) because they are ally with Ottomans (as ussualy now huge green blob).

Do you always help your AI allies and go do all the work ?

If the answer is no, then there is no need for this thread

Of course i help them. But in battles they dont help me mostly. :/ I fight in battle and neigbor ally army just walk away. In this war they helped me only in one battle.
