i want to release the nation of mecklenburg and then make a alliance and later vassalize them.
is this possible or will they always refuse because they are member of the hre?
> In your 'own' diplomacy screen, release a vassal, it should be the bottomost option, you'll have the option to release them & to play as them (which is compatible with ironman)
> Beneath autonomy, there should (i am not sure of DLC requirements but may require "Art of War" or "Common Sense") be a button to release their core land at a cost of -10 prestiege. This is a effective tool for releasing nations in small chunks
As austria for instance you could for 20 prestiege, release Tirol (the gold province) independently so you aren't getting inflation (if you dont want to vassalise) and also release stygia. As long as the land is in the HRE, countries you take that are releasable will join
> Taking pressburg (on the border with austria in hungarian land), territorial coring & adding to the HRE will let you release Nitra into the HRE (since you only own 1 province you can still release as a vassal to become a eastern tech march with nitra ideas), same with Croatia if you take the baltic coast & release croatia into the HRE as a opm inland.
