Hover over them you should see different stats.

Conquest gives discounts to conquering provinces you have claims on and extra cost for everything else. Insult gives discounts to other non-conquest things and extra cost for everything else.

I'm quite a massive noob, but I know that there are a few things disabled depending on the CB

Conquest doesn't disable anything

Humiliate rival disables most stuff you'd want

and a lot of other CB's I dont know about disable different things

Diplomatic Insult doesn't disable anything, it's just a below average CB as you'll pay extra diplo for any provinces you want. Trade War and Humilate are the general ones that disable certain things. Most of the others are just adjusted pricing.

I think the best casus bellies are the late national or imperialist ones and the religous holy war/cleansing or heresy casus belli.

The late ones comes when you get high enough diplomatic tech (think 1700 or so). National one you get instant casus bellis on all countries that have provinces that share cultural groups with you, you only take half AE for taking provinces in this cultural group when using this casus belli. You can only take those provinces however.

Imperial one works on everything right away and you can also grab LOADS of land in one war alone. However you get loads of AE as well.

Holy war/cleaning of heresy is the one you get from the religious ideas. This gives you instant casus belli on EVERYONE that has a diffrent religion than you and also border one of your provinces. It has reduced AE by a bit on ALL provinces taken in the war on the defender and it allows grabbing any province you want. Its unique in that its the only one which you can force defenders to change religion as well, provided that they are small enough. This casus belli is one of the reasons you either pick religious or humanist as one of the early ideas.

Humiliate rival is useful for jacking up your Power Projection, but that's about it.

Well the 200 of each mana is pretty damn useful too. :p

Agreed. I should have included that. I've been focused on power projection lately as a way to increase all three MPs. My bad.
