You need to have an heir!

If that's not an option then you need to be at war when your current monarch dies so a local noble is elected king not a forgien one.

Alternatively, and slightly more risky, you need to increase your prestige above both these other nations in order to get a dynasty spread not a personal union. This way if your ally dies heirless you get them in a personal union!
Ok all a bit greek to me very new at this game! I currently have no heir and one can't really see if your ruler is even married or not?

My current ruler very bad all three skills 0 and I am in four Royal marriages with France, Portugal, Austria & navarre!

So what to do?

You already did what you can by forming several royal marriages. Each increases your chances to get a new heir by 5%. Just wait and see what happens. Chances are pretty good that you will simply get a new heir in time. If not, you will end up in a Personal Union with either Austria or France. That's not good, but can happen now and then. With an old heir and King, Castille's chances of ending up in a PU are somewhat higher than those of other christian countries. Still I wouldn't worry about it before it happens.

As veryhungryperson said you can't end up in a Personal Union if you are at war, but it's not realy an option to constantly fight someone.
Having more prestige then Austria and France is also an option, but it's hard to change that.
I currenly have 30 prestige which ia 2 higher than France! austria is on 35 prestige atm!

Could you explain the difference between a personal union or dynasty spread as veryhungry person mentioned?
Dynasty spread: You get a king from another royal family, in your case most probably a "von habsburg" or "de valois". You do remain an independend country and the game pretty much continues normaly.

Personal Union: You loose your independence and are ruled by the current King of Austria or France instead. In terms of gameplay that means that you can't declare your own wars anymore and are heavily restrited in diplomatic options. You more or less have to fight your new "overlord" for independence first, before you can continue to play seriously.

Summarized in three words - Personal Unions suck. (At least when you are the subject)
My prestige is @ 52 now comparing to France @ 27 and Austria @35!!
Dynasty spread is good, Habsburg is better than de valois.

Get a hier!
I got a girl good stats but medium claim so that will have to do for now! if a boy comes along could he be the heir instead or how does succession work on EU4?
Go to war, you cant be PU while at war.
If your king dies you will get a new ruler from your dynasty.
Or hope wedding fires, you cant get PU if you have a PU.
The girl is your heir until she dies or you get some other event affecting heirs.

Are you sure about that? I remember when my friend told me he got a random PU on Denmark and whole Scandinavia.
What or where can one see what the succession is?
You can check out the successions of other countries if you hover over their rulers, as well.
