Queen and heir both have infertile trait, am I doomed?
I'm a noob generally but even more with the latest DLC. I started another Castile game and my heir was infertile, so I got rid of him and everything went downhill from there. I restarted and this time he and the Queen were infertile. Now I saw in the hover text it's a 25% hit, but I get a 15% buff for legitimacy/royal marriage, so do I still stand a chance with the 10% hit? If I manage to PU Aragon or another nation does that give me more heirs beyond my current one's potential offspring? Does Castile always start in this situation or was I just unlucky?

The infertile trait does litterally nothing on a Queen since she cannot rule unless you already have an heir.

You were just unlucky. You might get in a PU war against the country with the most prestige of all those with which you have a royal marriage, if your ruler dies without an heir.... or you might get an heir of another dynasty. But the infertile trait is not a 100% chance you wont get a new heir; you could still get one and yes the more royal marriages you have, the more chances to get a new heir.

**With Castille though, you'll probably get in a war against Aragon for PU..... did not play Castille much..... mostly in CK2. The plan with them is to get a PU over Aragon so maybe this is not a bad thing I'm not sure. When you hover on your ruler's name in the diplomacy tab, you'll see what will happen when he/she dies... I know you have an heir right now, but when current ruler dies, you'll see. Or search a bit on what would be an optimal start for Castille.

No, infertile isn't that crippling.

well I assumed she would still have something to do with it if I got rid of the current heir like I did in the first attempt.

Well I played as Castile like a year ago, but it was like 2 or 3 DLC ago. The PU with Aragon is a special event kind of like Charlemagne killing his brother in CKII, though I think I heard it isn't 100% guaranteed, and I'd imagine if the infertility manages to cause me trouble, it could ruin me before it pops either way.

All that said, I'm gonna stick it out and see what happens. I've retaken Grenada and annexed Navarra already, and started a war with Morrocco for Tangiers before saving earlier today. I guess my biggest issue is finding another ally for royal marriage now that Navarra doesn't exist, and finding a replacement for the Papal State, because I settled on them after reallizing the others I was going for were all too distant or conflicts of interest. Portugal and France are my other allies right now.
