Exploring terra incognita
I apologize for what is likely a noob question, but is it possible to assign a conquistador-led army to explore specific terra incognita?

Here's the situation. After discovering and landing a conquistador army on the northeast coast of Brazil, I wanted to assign the army a mission to explore. The only option available that I could see was to search for the seven cities of gold, so that's what I elected to do. And explore they did, marching through most of South America, through Central America and uncovering pretty much all of North America as far as Alaska. The problem is there is still a large chunk of the South American interior that is unexplored that borders my Brazilian colonies.

Since they had basically stopped exploring, I brought the conquistador army back to my South American holdings in the hope I could start some sort of mission to get them to explore the interior. Again, the only mission available seems to be to search for the seven cities. Now if I elect thagt mission, the army doesn't do a damned thing.

Is there some toggle button or mission detail window that I am overlooking? Thanks for any suggestions.

EDIT: I think I may have found the issue. Is the mission to explore specific terra incognita the forced march? If so, then it appears I don't have the required adminitrative tech level yet.

Most of the Interior Amazon Rainforest is wasteland. Wasteland cannot be colonized, nor troops cannot be moved across.

You can select the units leaded by the consistador and direct them to a Terra Incognita. I think it has to be region near another already discovered, or if there's a bunch of terra incognita in between two points you already discovered, you just direct them to the other point and the conquistador will discover, while making a route.

That's what I thought, but it didn't work. Tooltip said that I had to assign the conquistador-led army on a mission to explore the unknown territory, and there was no such mission available. That's why I'm thinking it must be the "forced march" option, which is disabled until I get to admin tech level 15.

If you can't direct your conquistador on a region, it's because this is a wasteland. The Left spot on the Screenshot is a wasteland. The right spot I'm not sure but probably is too; direct your conquistador on it and see.

EDIT; And it doesn't have something to do with ''forced march''. Forced March is for speeding up your troops movement by 1.5 I think, at the cost of 2 military points per province's movement.

You can manually discover with your conquistador by directing him, from one discovered province, to an undiscovered.

Thanks. I noticed that one of the areas has cleared automatically. Although it would be nice if the tooltip said it was impenetrable jungle instead of saying you had to send your armies on a mission that turns out to be non-existant.
