No one wants to support my independence
I am trying to go for Back to the Piast, and I have restarted many times as both Silesia and Mazovia; but no one substantial wants to support my independence.

The wiki said that Silesia is easier since Bohemia should started rivaled to Hungary, Poland, or Austria. But Poland and Austria are almost always friendly, and even if Hungary is rivaled to Bohemia they hate Silesia as well so won't support independence.

Any advice from people who've gotten this achievement?

The wiki is almost always either not updated to the latest 1.19 version or expects very specific set of DLCs. I had much similar problems with Sweden, which according to wiki, gets easily support for independence but in the actual game does not. I think they toughened up support for independence system in 1.19 so if you want to cheat, try playing earlier version perhaps?

And no, I don't have this achievement.

I am having even trouble with Rozwi Empire, which you got, which again by wiki should be easy by getting support from all the neighbours but in the real game is much more difficult.

You might need an diplo rep advisor and a few restarts for either bohemia/hungary to rival poland. Don't know how easy it is on 1.19, but teutons should support you all the time and i think i got bohemia on board when i've done this. Did it as Mazovia btw

For this just ally their only rival (Kilwa), focus on mil points and get mil tech 3

Easy from there then. The gold mine provides enough to get quite a few troops, you could even invest the rest of your diplo points for even more gold.

Attack around 1450. You cant get all provinces, its just a tiny bit too much - you could just take all provinces up to 80 warscore and force them to drop their allies + declare again even with truce

You gotta be fast tho before they ally again someone else, the coalition that will form against you wont give enough time to deal with several enemies.

Nearly managed to get the achievement on first try, tried it after reading this ;)

I rolled back to 1.18 a while ago because I had a long standing game I wanted to finish and haven't rolled forward yet. I don't have Mare Nostrum or Rights of Man.

Rowzi Empire I did on 1.18 and yeah, all you need is Kilwa. Then it is super easy.

Lately, ever time I have tried with Silesia or Mazovia everyone is Hostile to me even if they are rivaled to my liege.

Sometimes I feel the difficults in EU4 is merely how often you have to restart to get start conditions that won't kill you outright and then I ask myself why am I playing this and not back in CK2 haha.
I also thought it would be easier with Silesia, as after you are independant you'd be in the HRE and Poland wouldn't be able to just attack you. But after failing a couple of times I tried it with Mazovia as 1) I would already own some of the necessary provences; and 2) by not being a loyal vassal to Poland but trying to gain independance that means (Mazovia's) 5k less forces for Poland I'd have to fight, and the following development hit to them after Mazovia is free.

That one worked pretty well. You need high relations and a dip rep guy to get Bohemia to back you though. The Teutons rivaled me from day 1, so I just waited untill Poland's pretty much guaranteed war with the Orders, and then added my and Bohemia's forces to the mix.

Got it now, thanks. It was my previous attempt that created unwinnable situation, was really easy this time :)

Sorry I have not been able to help you with any good advice about Back to the Piast. I will try some tests with 1.19 about Mazovia described above.

Sometimes you have to complain, and the universe will deliver.

I tried again, as Mazovia...and low and behold, Hungary rivaled Poland but was neutral to me. Improve relations and bam! Alliance one. Bohemia also fell into line quickly after. The Teutons hated me, but I expected that.

As I was looking around for people who would support my independence, I noticed Moldavia would accept an alliance. I didn't think you could ally your lieges marches? but I took it...figuring what the hell.

The PU hadn't fired, so once Bohemia accepted, declared indendence war.

Not only did Moldavia join in (for their independence as well) but they were the allied with the Teutonic Order, who then joined in as an ally! The PU event fired while we were at war so Lithuania peaced everyone out so it was:

Bohemia
Silesia
The Teutonic Order
Mazovia
Hungary
Moldavia

Against poor Poland all alone.

But what is the price of victory? I took Krakow, Sandomierz, and Nowy Sacz; but with a new forcelimit of 12, I have to deal with the 18k Polish Rebels soon :P

In the worst case you could throw admin points in stability and military in supressing the rebels.

I managed to win independence war as Silesia in 1.19. Tried 5 times and Bohemia foolishly rivaled Austria, who was happy to support my independence. As soon the 1 month of waiting period was over, I started the war. It was me and Austria against Bohemia and Saxony. No problems there.

As far I can see, Hungary and Poland will ALWAYS refuse to help Silesia since they both want to conquer the provinces from it. It does not matter if Bohemia rivals them or not, they will refuse anyway.
