Yeah, when the fort works with the AI and they don't walk just through it, level 8 forts are pretty much impentrable to them. Paradox really need to make sieging L8 forts easier, because sometimes I just place such a fort in a bottleneck where a rival country would need to pass through and just don't worry about them in a war. Because they have close to no chance to sieging it down (when they're not European)
I wholeheartedly agree. I LOATHE level 8 forts. I'm not a fan of level 6 forts either but they're not as bad as far as sieging them and paying for their maintenance as much as level 8 forts. But in this case I had a great economy and I could afford the forts and considering while I was a steppe nomad with 0 forts in my empire it was extremely annoying to have to chase down enemies spreading throughout a region in my empire. It was really annoying for the little guys so imagine how annoying it would have been for a powerhouse like the Ottomans. Also helped that I alsosurrounded them with my troops as well because I had 7 armies of 30k waiting in the Middle East while I also had 7 more in the Balkans ready to take Constantinople and the rest of the Balkans.
But back to the revolution. While the disaster is going you get some nasty modifiers and some events that can cause rebellions. But don't worry about the revolutionary rebels you let them do their thing unless they have enough land occupied that the bar starts to fill up to where they may enforce their demands, you DO NOT want that to happen it switches the government I believe but no the desired one. So when it comes to rebels only worry about separatists for obvious reasons of spreading separatism in those lands so you will have to be able to take them on if the time comes which is why I don't recommend being at war when you do this even though that's what I was doing however having Humanist Ideas helped out with not having many rebels. And all you need is a revolutionary stack to occupy your capital, that's it. As soon as that happens you get the event that switches to revolutionary republic as soon as the month changes and all those rebels, all of the nasty unrest modifiers go away and you have yourself what may just be the best government type in the game.
It gives +2 tolerance of heretics, +10% morale of armies, -0.20 monthly autonomy change, and +5 states. However that's not all. Because you will be the first revolutionary nation in the game and therefore the "revolution target," you get extra bonuses: +10% national manpower, +10% morale of armies, -0.15 monthly war exhaustion (this means you can be in constant war and get almost no war exhaustion ever), -50% unjustified demands, -50% land maintenance, -50% naval maintenance, +40% land force limit (compare this to the 20% bonus steppe nomads get, you get 20% more by switching to a superior government form), & +40% naval force limit.
And the cb you get replaces Imperialism but is just as good as that the steppe nomads get as its about showing superiority however you can do anything you like for 50% off. This means what would otherwise be 100% worth of land grabbing will only cost you 50% so you could do a lot more stuff to them than you otherwise would as a steppe nomad. And finally I should mention that others also get new cb on you and that is to force you back from being a revolutionary nation. So theoretically if you lose a war they may force you to switch back which would be a bummer. But other than that bit its a fantastic way to play the game. It's possible for the AI to switch to one before you but my experiance has been that that is a rare feat for the AI to do so you are very very likely to be the first one so you will get all of those amazing bonuses to your economy and armies.
Ignoring that, it seems like this is all good. I'm going to have to try this one time.
Basically if I'm playing in Europe I will always go revolutionary. It's just too good. How I wish the rest of the world can go revolutionary as well...
Weird thing is I've seen someone have a revolutionary Ming and an early one at that. Must have been some random rebels but I'm not sure how. Never thought it was possible at all until 1750.
Cool video. In my campaign as the Timurids/Mughals I played a bunch of music from central asia and i really quite liked it.
So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ epic
I think you should also watch the series called marco polo you might like it
Yup, I've seen both seasons of Marco Polo. Beautiful production values and I really liked the actor who portrayed Kublai. It's not without it's flaws though, mostly in some of the writing, but I kind of wished it had some resolve but it got cut short unfortunately. Would have liked to see Marco actually go travel the world instead of just hanging around the Mongol world. I also find it funny that he isn't even close to being the main character in the whole thing but I guess it's more about the world HE lived in at the time and not necessarily about HIM.
Good thing that show didn't get cancelled I hope they finish it brilliantly
What do you mean? I thought it's been canceled now?
Well first off you improve relations with Ottomans day one; raise host to get a free 20 tradition general and 5 extra cavalry for free and start sending all of your troops toward Crimea. I got an alliance with Uzbek as well and whichever other horde doesn't rival you or is hostile towards you. As soon as you have your troops next to Crimea's border attack them and you will want to annex them because Ottomans get an event that makes them a vassal for free so you NEED to annex them right away and you can because it costs less than 100% warscore to do so. After that it's just taking whatever you can in just about any direction and feeling out whether your neighbors are weak.
I also recommend following the annexation of Crimea with Odoyev and Ryazan. Odoyev was allied with Novgorod and when I attacked them Muscovy attacked Novgorod so peacing them out quickly was no problem. Ryazan allied Tver so I took that opportunity to also make Tver a vassal of mine as well as annexing Ryazan. And with Tver I fed them land in the Moscow area because that area is highly developed and I didn't want to core that land myself. But I didn't feed Tver anymore land other than their core and the rest of the land in the Moscow area. But don't give them land in the peace deal itself, take the land for yourself so you can raze the land and then in the subjects interaction tab you give them the land that way because it lowers their liberty desire instead of raising their liberty desire like it often does when giving them land in an actual peace deal but more to the point you get so many points you desperately need as a steppe nomad because your starting ruler is garbage and your land is as well so you will have to be at war a lot in this campaign, not constant mind you, but quite often. Pretty much whenever your horde unity starts to go down to around 75 you should be doing some more wars because you can raise the horde unity easily through looting and razing land you conquer, and don't be afraid to go over 100% overextension in peace deals because its not what you will have once you have razed provinces. I hardly ever had my horde unity under 70 and probably 90% of the time I had it 80 or higher. I also got lucky at one point getting the Ottoman dynasty on my throne which helped out for a long time keeping high relations but like so many games you play allying the Ottomans and bordering them they randomly break the alliance with 73 trust and permanent 200 relations but it was okay. Sure I was worried for a bit after it happened but I got a couple of their allies as mine to try to keep them from declaring on me meanwhile I expand like crazy throughout Central Asia and into India.
Also, I highly recommend taking Economic Ideas as your first idea group (it's pretty much a necessity when playing as a steppe nomad because your land is bad in development so you need something to help you out making money) followed by a military idea group probably (I went with Quantity because it means more troops, manpower, and land maintenance goes down along with stacking up with the same land maintenance modifier economic has). And once you form the Golden Horde you get superior national ideas that also includes another land maintenance modifier as well as coring cost reduction and some reduction of yearly horde unity decay that is lovely. I also recommend taking Humanist Ideas because it basically means no rebels ever especially if you do the trick that I do by making sure I have at least one possible state available because you can make land already cored into a state (but do not make it a full core), followed by raising autonomy causing the unrest to go negative and then follow that by revoking the state and that way its still a territory so you didnt make any more money or force limit but you didn't lose it like you would if you would raise autonomy to 100% instead of 75%. It worked beautifully for me the whole campaign especially once I got full Humanist.
Oh, and lastly, while conquering Russia is a high priority it's probably less so than getting into Persia. You HAVE to get into Persia before the Ottomans do because then they will be a pain in the ass to take it from them. Also important about taking Persia is moving your trade port to Mazandaran or basically anywhere in the Persia trade node because you make a whole lot more money trading there instead of where you start.
So yeah, I'm not sure what else to say about it it's just taking wars whenever you can here and there and just blobbing throughout Asia.
