Your hardest achievement so far
I was just wondering what players consider as their hardest achievement. For me it will probably be Big Blue Blob, you need some luck and for me it took some rerolls. Although Basileus took more rerolls, you can take your time and wait until the right moment. But maybe the achievements which gave me most satisfaction was Mare Nostrum as Aragon, it was really nice to see the Roman Empire restored, and no freaking Baguette or Kebab on the map :)

Mare Nostrum with Byzantium. Was harder than my WC as Austria. Dracula's Revenge as Moldavia was freakin hard.

Great Khan was tough. I had no luck at achieving it with Mongolia so I have an appreciation for those that have done so but I did do it as Golden Horde. Took me maybe three tries with them compared to many tries with Mongolia. Keeping relations with Ottomans up was a little tough especially because I knew I had a time limit to get into Persia before they did. But even this one is only tough in parts because once you have majority of Russia and Persia under control China is easy to take.

Buddhists Strike Back is one of my favorite achievements personally I just loved it both time I tried it out (my second true attempt was the successful one as my first relatively successful attempt I had all of India but couldn't convert it all).

Frozen Assets was tough because I had to deal with those pesky Muscovites and plus ottomans were always a threat once I neutered the Muscovites. Then I had to figure out how the hell I could possibly make the worst trade node become the greatest in the world while having 90% trade power there. It took lots of development, lots of trade and production buildings in that mode and the nodes that feed into it and lastly it took some random embargoes on my rivals as well as some non rivals to give that amount of trade power. This was also one of the more satisfying achievements for me to get as I also wanted to stay as a merchant republic because of the trade and production bonuses you get as one.

Shahanshah was also a really tough start as Tabarestan that took many restarts and luck to get it right and I did real well with them. Not well enough to get This is Persia because Ottomans became too strong to take on. But for that achievement I took the easy route by start as the Ottomans and doing some culture shift stuff in order to become Persia with them. So while This is Persia may be one of the achievements I've gotten, the way I did it was a cake walk because of some game mechanics I could take advantage of.

I really need to improve my Horde game. So many achievements to be had.

Yeah, I did not play with hordes that much. I tried it a few times, but find it really hard to play with. Then you read that people do world conquests with them in the early 16 hundreds.
CTHOMP Jan 31, 2017 @ 12:05pm
I did the Irish one and also the Inca one. Probably not super tough, but they had their moments.

Yeah I can see people do it. I can understand it. However you have to be prepared to be at war ALL the time have mercs ready permanently and conquer non stop because horde unity drops faster the bigger you are which is why Humanist is the way to go to counteract all the potential rebels you can get in your empire. If you're not going to be conquering constantly and don't want to deal with horde rebels you will have to eventually settle down which also brings along its own consequences but at least you won't have to worry about tribes from then on.

Switzerlake looks hard. I keep wanting to go for it, but I am still burnt out from my WC.
CTHOMP Jan 31, 2017 @ 1:19pm
You may be able to work towards the European exodus strat for Switzerland like you do with Irish exodus? It will just take longer to get out of Europe since you don't have a core province, and your coring range is far away?
Fellini_Fiend Jan 31, 2017 @ 2:02pm
I had a surprisingly easy time with Switzerlake. Allied France as early as I could along with a few other minor allies I could use within the empire and I just conquered everything east of them minus the ports. I was bummed out that when I dismantled the HRE and turned myself into an empire I was not able to culture shift to another culture in my culture group. I really wanted to form Germany and I would have been able to but the Swiss are not allowed to do so. Why is that a thing? Shouldn't you be able to do so if you're in the culture group? Had I known that was a restriction when you become an empire I would have formed Germany and then become an empire through forming Germany. Oh well. Still, that was a fun campaign. I highly recommend it. Good luck early on and get an ally with whoever you can, alliances are not easy to come by early on but you can certainly get one with France.

Basileus. For me.

"Hardest"? Norwegian wood! Hehe...
Findus Jan 31, 2017 @ 10:57pm
Either my trebizond where I got my 1001 provinces or norwegian wood one.

I am doing a third way as mzab that turned into both a WC and a One faith right now though, there really arent many countries left in the world. Japan is probably the biggest one so you might imagine there isnt much left. Takes so long to do a proper WC so my greatest fear is that they release a patch and ruin the WC in these coming days.

I would love to do a world conquest some day, but its a bit to game'e for me. I like to role play.

I play ck2 when I feel like doing roleplay. Eu4 is just pure paint jobs for me.

If they update can't you just roll back to earlier game versions and not damage your save?
