How to westernize?

Like the title says how do I westernize my country? I'm playing as Russia right now and I want to westernize, cause eastern troops are ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Westernization is no longer a mechanic in the game. As far as I know, there is currently no mechanic to change tech groups. Also as far as I know, the tech groups are only for troop type now.

you can't anymore, and besides, before when you could westernize you had to stick with whatever troops you started with

No, as I said, there is no mechanism in the game to change tech groups. I miss the old Westernization mechanics actually.

considder that in no version of EU4 Russia could get Western troops. unless you formed russia as a starting western nation. Not sure what you miss about it really, and I much perfer the new one. But that is my opinion :)

Troops were rebalanced 2 plus years ago. Different tech levels of different techs have strengths, but over all they are pretty much balanced with each other IIRC. No need to worry about what troop types you have off hand. They don't even tie Cavalry ratio to Tech group anymore.

Why do people keep saying eastern troops suck? Eastern countries have better infantry (by 1 pip) than western countries for the first 15 tech levels and better cavalry (by 1-2 pips) for the first 18 tech levels.

Truth. Western troops are only the top troop type for a few stretches of game time. One of those is near the end of the game.
