AI Has Too Many Diplomatic Relations?
When I played 1.19.2, I never had this problem with any country. Now, with MoH, Austria and Poland have too many diplo relations to ally me.

Is this one of the changes the devs made?

I am not sure if it is a bug or not. The AI used to reserve an "extra" dip slot for players. Now it does not seem to be doing this.

It has certainly added a new challenge to overcome...

If it was intentional, I wouldn't mind it. It definitely makes the game more challenging. But if it's a bug, it needs to be patched quick or I'm going to get eaten by the Ottomans.

I think I am okay with it honestly. My first game on 1.21 (or 1.20) was with Prussia and Austria was not having me as an ally because of the to many relations -50 malus.
I eventually got the alliance due to Austria breaking an alliance for whatever reason.
Now that I know its working like this, I will adjust.

But no idea if this was an intential change.

i keep getting the pop up that the alliance is not worth keeping and that austria will break it.
even with relations maxed out.
havent had this issue ever before.
anyway he did not break it cause i worked on the relations, but i did keep getting the popup.
so i left 1 diplomat there for ever, just in case.
this is a problem though...cause i want the emperor as ally.

I am experiencing the same problem while trying to play as Byzantium. I cannot secure an alliance with Poland because it says they have too many diplo relations. It makes playing as Byz even more impossible.

From what I can tell or observed in my playing as Castille, I was trying to ally Austria. With the new patch it is about impossible as every other country is trying to ally them at the same time.

They have 5 relations and it gave me a -20 from too many diplo relations.. (I was watching it every month). Also 2 of the countries had royal marriages with Austria at this point. Then a month later they went up to 6 relations, but still it gave me a -20.. so I thought OK, I can overcome the -20. I thought.....

The next month Hungary, who was allready an allie did a royal marriage with made a total of the 6 allies, and 3 royal marriages All of which were his allies and still the same 6, BUT after the marriage it NOW says -40 because of too many diplo relations, and the only thing that changed was the additional marriage to a country that was allready his allie.

Therefore, the newer patch has started counting Royal Marriages and Allies seperately, unless someone else has an explanation for the change only after a marriage with a current ally.

Military Access.

Ai used to save a slot for the human player. They don't anymore, hence too many relations.

Fedaykin, militry access may have been it, I didnt check that or see it. Itchy I understand AI not having an extra slot, but as I explained, I didn't see him get what would count as another diplo relationship, only a marriage with a country they allready had an alliance with. That was the confusion that it changed from -20 chance to -40 with only a marriage added to an existing relationship.

It did stay at -40 but I overcame that eventually, I figured he would have to go to war with one of those allies, especially as Austria :)

I'm fairly certain military access doesn't take up a diplo slot for the AI

I wouldn't mind Byz having a tough time.

This has been one of the dumbest changes I've seen. Since it has an extra slot, refusing to interact with the players [i[ when it still has a built in extra slot [/i[ is basically truning the slot from a way to interact with the human to outright cheating (because it can now interact with the other AI better spready dynasties yadda)
