Desires of the flesh/wth does 'papal authority' mean?
have a game going as Naples, my wife is having an affair and I have the option to get rid of her. The option says the 'papal authority' event will happen. I can't seem to find anywhere what exactly that means.

what does it mean?

Papal Authority points at what you spend at Rome to increase your influence over the church or get consessions back from Rome on your behalf. Down the bottom right of the screen there is a little golden icon for the papacy - next to the Holy Roman Empire icon. Click on that and you spend the Authority points on trying to take control of the Curia or getting bonuses.

basically it means you request a special dispensation for a divorce from the pope, if he refuses you lose ten prestige. He refused me.

After about a dozen attempts the pope always refuses me, even with a friendly relation and 150+ opinion. Not sure how you can get him to say yes.

Never had him say yes either.

usually not worth taking even though the queen or prince consort may be sleeping around lol. Usually I buy the advisor off and replace him. Of course the consort seems to repeat the offense more than once. :-)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm going to add to it because I was looking this up and this was the first thread that comes up, so I'm going to be answering it for anyone else, I used 25 Papal Authority and despite the unlikely chance it allowed me to divorce the consort, from there I can choose to go through with the divorce, have the consort nation's (in my case Portugal, who rivaled me after the marriage happened due to a lack of valid rivals for them) opinion of you decrease by 75 and they gain a diplomatic insult casus belli on you, and you lose 15 prestige, or you can decide to keep the marriage but you don't get your authority back.
