1990 glitch?

I have one hidden cat to find. I've used the magnifying glass and it shows where the cat is, but it's not appearing when I click on it. Any idea why?

You're talking about the Mario one under the question mark box, right? I experience the exact same thing

EDIT: just found the solution in another thread:
You need to click - up up down down left right left right B A - on buttons on the wall under the ? box
