A Message from Lavabird & FBL
Hi, this is Andy, developer of Warside.

Not going to lie, we had a rocky launch yesterday with some game-breaking bugs that affected players’ first experience of the game. We were slowed by a partial Steam & Steamworks outage right after we launched, which delayed our deployment of the bug fixes.

These issues have now been resolved:

  • Custom lobbies are now once again available to play with friends.
  • Fixed matchmaking using only a single map from the pool.
  • Fixed a soft lock if one player accepts a multiplayer game, but another doesn't.
  • Fixed labels on Main Menu reverting to all say Campaign.
  • Fixed an issue with currency income that made the game unplayable
  • Fixed an issue with a missing Play Mission button on the editor, so players can now play custom maps.

We apologize to players who experienced these issues at launch, and have worked to resolve these quickly. If you encounter any further bugs, please report them in the Bug Bash Thread on the Steam forums so we can get them fixed ASAP.

We have a few features we are still patching up. We'll be making daily updates this week, and the game should be in a good state before the weekend.

  • Skirmish mode for local player vs AI matches.
  • Fix for campaign mission The Last Stand not correctly triggering it's event sequence.
  • General tidy of campaign mode and fixing the reported issues.
  • Increase in campaign difficulty for the higher difficulty settings.

We also apologize for the missing local coop component to the game. This was intended to ship with together with our console launch, but in hindsight, we didn’t communicate this effectively to our community. We are continuously developing Warside and will add this feature as planned.

We have been monitoring your feedback on our Discord and in the Steam forums, and in the coming weeks, we will work to add and improve features you have been asking for, including:

  • Steam achievements.
  • A dossier with commanders so players can read up on them.
  • A local coop multiplayer campaign.
  • Continued gameplay balancing and difficulty adjustments.
  • Localization bug fixes.

We thank you for supporting Warside through our launch, and we are committed to continuously developing and improving the game. If you were affected by launch bugs and left a negative review, please try playing the game again with the fixes in place, and if you’re enjoying the game, please switch your review to positive – that would go the furthest in supporting Warside and help us to serve our player community.

On a personal note, I'd like to once again apologize for the mess. There were some difficult external circumstances, but ultimately, the fault still lies with me. I hope I can make it up to you in the coming days, and get us back to where we expected to be.

All the best,

Andy from Lavabird

Keep on the good work guys. We all believe in you, stay strong. I already had some fun multiplayer games and the campaign is good so far. Bugs can be fixed and content be added

Please reconsider async multiplayer. Games like these take way to long to only be liveplay multiplayer, any server interference drops games, and massive maps like you can make in the editor would take a long time to fight. Allowing multiple games to be jumped between is the way to go with turn based strategy games like this.

I really feel this will just go the way of irrelevance without it as you wont pull any of the long time awbw players or others from the Genre. The games base is amazing. This is what will see it played for years.
Just stumbled upon this game today and will purchase it soon. Looking forward to supporting this project. Keep up the hard work. This game has so much potential.

"Adults" like you are why people keep scamming their customers with unfinished piles of crap like this "release." They even use high school level "My life was been hard :(" excuses. It'd be comical if it weren't criminal and so unprofessional that it actually dirtied their publisher's rep. And, sadly enough, their publisher didn't do anything wrong here. They just trusted that the product was what Lavabird said it was.

Womp womp. It wasn't. They need until the weekend to patch in skirmish mode against the AI. What. "difficult external circumstances" for Lavabird = They procrastinated and panicked and turned in 3 pages when the term paper was supposed to be 10. Making excuses for them like you and the other "I don't mind that I paid $25 for a game that was supposed to be finished, but got $5 of unfinished tech demo"....intellectuals....are in this thread just enables more nonsense like this. You'll just keep getting scammed, and wondering why people are angry at being lied to and tricked into spending their hard-earned money on an unfinished POS.

You shouldn't be willing to buy a product from someone who has proven that they not only couldn't deliver after two extensions, they couldn't deliver a product that was even approaching the minimum bar.

THERE ISN'T EVEN AN IN-GAME ENCYCLOPEDIA TO READ ABOUT THE CO'S AND THEIR POWERS. THEY HAVE TO ADD THAT IN. YOU JUST HAVE TO GUESS. HOW IS THAT SOMETHING YOU SHOULD SUPPORT.
So many games are buggy at release these days because people tolerates that kind of bs nowadays and love being qa tester who pay instead of getting paid. Back in the days games are far less buggy on average when they are released because there was no easy way to push for updates so devs ensure games are as stable as possible. Too many suckers nowadays who are easy prey to sob stories mamufactured to excuse bad behavior.

Thank you for your commitment. Even though the game's had a rocky launch, I'm finding myself really having fun with the campaign. At least that will keep me busy until you introduce these other changes =)

Some games will be tolerated because its has a niche market, its not a game for the millions, we appreciate that someone is building such game.

good to hear from you guys, as I said in my review, this game has the potential to be the speritual sequel we all have been craving for years. Hope you guys take time to focus on little details like the sound of an explosion when a unit is destroyed, or a minimap of the battlefield so we dont have to be panning over and over again to see the whole stage. good luck and keep the good work, I believe in you!

I’m glad they made this announcement and I hope they can somehow turn things around and make warside a success.

But calling people who are very logically and reasonably upset “haters” is ridiculous.

Chill, friend. I'm not excusing a buggy release. I haven't purchased the game yet, and will wait until it's in better condition. As Groundhog said a few messages ago, this is a very niche market and we appreciate that they're making this game because nobody else is. If they can fix it, and I'm sure they will, it can really be something special.

I can see that the developers have passion for this project and I look forward to seeing what becomes of it and playing it when it's in full form. That's all.
