The humor is lame
Did anybody else find the humor just lame and immature?
Combine this with no sense of clear goals and directions for the player,
and I just had to stop playing

I'm from Yorkshire (the county where this game is set) so I could play in dialect no problem. I found it hilarious, but that's cause a lot of the humour was aimed right at my culture and childhood. For me, it was brilliant to have a game that felt like a love letter to this part of the world. But as a result, that humour is not going to work for everyone, especially those from other countries. Looks like a lot of the people who commented they didn't like it are talking about the price in $, so I can probably safely assume it's cultural differences causing the discrepancy.

It's the first I hear of this game and I don't quite understand the humour from the videos and the page description. I came to this forum to look for more details. What is it like? Someone mentioned Monty Python, which is surrealism and meta-humour, but I didn't get that at all from the page, it looks more like some sort of slapstick?

It's surreal and slapstick. The goals are clear and it's so linear that it's really not hard to figure out the next step.

To me the humor doesn't work and I have a pretty good idea why that is, now I developed a sense of humor from childhood on and one thing almost every humoristic situation needs is a straight character.

This "game" has only quirky, off-their rockers characters and a silent protagonist who has no characteristics whatsoever.

Imagine Alice in Wonderland without Alice (the straight character) ackowleding the weirdness.

This game fails for me on almost every level but the humor fails exactly because of that reason, so it's just some weird stuff happening without rhyme or reason, sorry, that's not funny, maybe for the TikTok generation with an attention span of a goldfish it is but there were created much better British works in the past, which you probably should seek out if you find this funny.

Mister Bean, Monty Python, to name the most popular.

Not even sure the game wants to only be funny, it's telling a deeper story too.

The humour doesn't fail, it just doesn't resonate with you. No need to start lashing out at people.

Well humour is subjective. Something that's funny to me won't always be funny to every one else, and that's fine.

Nope. It's hilarious and you have no sense of humour

T'were funny. Not everyone will appreciate it.

My favourites

  • "Every morning, I wake up, have a can of lager, a big wee... and then i get out of bed"
  • The mouse checkout operator has a name badge: "meep"
  • The chap offering sausages through a knot in the wood
  • The save indicator being the signal they used on old TV before the ad break
  • The council's motto "fortis in brachio, crassus in capite" (Yorkshire man, born and bred, strong in't arm, thick in't 'ead)
  • The gardener seeing the lady smooching her cabbages... the gardener painting his head green and planting himself in the cabbages... the uprooted cabbages and head in her wheelbarrow
  • The bits that you know are coming: the lawnmower, the commemorative plate, the chimney, opening the bag of manure

i think you're part of the 1% that bought it for some reason other than exactly the humor you're complaining about lol

What kind of person would say this? *Checks out games* (Mostly just trash with barely more than 30 hours clocked in) at least you got lollipop chainsaw but I'm guessing you're going to hate that too.
