Report a translation problem
I don't believe there's any unity execution flags to force sound device ( there's quite a few for graphics ), if there is one it's not in the Unity manual. Not sure about mods.
I don't think it'll be something hard to fix, so maybe wait a little on the refund to see if it's patched. Wierd bug though, I've come across a few games that don't like setting a particular device but never one that just refuses to play sound at all.

I sent them an email (help@thankgoodness.game) and referenced this thread. Hopefully someone over there will respond.
Yeah, they haven't responded to my email. I've got until early next week before I have to put in a refund request. It's a bummer because I was really excited for this one.
