Honestly, I thought the same thing when I saw FTL: Faster Than Light first blow up in popularity... I didn't really "get it" until I actually played FTL myself and enjoyed it quite a bit.
Maybe Arco is the same way. Maybe the screenshots or even trailer don't really do its gameplay justice. Let the reviews and word-of-mouth do it justice.
Or you can ask me what I like about it if you need details. It's not a joke.
I mean, if the game costs this much, it needs to have over 20 hours of entertainment. Ideally much more. There are some games I have gotten 1,000+ hours of entertainment from. How does this game stack up?
To be honest, after giving it another look, I think it might be really neat, but I'm still on the fence.
Go play the demo, it's up again and I think that would be the best way for you to actually know. Demo is the first 2-3 hours of the game and, if you like it and decide to buy it, your save continues.
Indie devs however? C'mon, cut them a break. I would never expect to pay a dollar to watch a one-hour play from a theatre company if I wanted everyone to be paid fairly. So how could
I in good conscience expect someone to create an hour long game they needed to program, make art, create a soundtrack, troubleshoot and only pay them a single dollar for their efforts? Especially when a fair chunk of which goes to Steam and I imagine their publisher.
If you don't think the game is for you, that's fine. Maybe the demo will change your mind, maybe it won't, who can say! But no one is forcing you to buy indie games you don't think you'll like, and neither are they forcing you to make attention-seeking posts like these.
