Stuck at combat training on Switch

This is embarrassing, but the combat training seems to be unbeatable, at least on Switch. I'm stuck at the part that teaches you interrupting attacks. ("If the enemy is right next to you, you won't have time to distance yourself before they strike.")

After hitting Dad twice, I'm still too close to dodge the next attack. I've made a few dozen attempts now. I've watched streamers play through this section, and we're doing exactly the same thing, but they seem to be either creating more distance or running away faster somehow.

Am I missing something? Did anyone else run into this? Is this is bug?

Thanks for sharing this with us! While we work on a fix, you can activate the assist mode in settings and skip the combat with the button that appears there, that should allow you to continue. Sorry for the inconvinience 😅

Hey I had the exact same problem, but on steam. The solution is a tactical one: you have to make sure that you never end your turn such that on the next one they'll be close enough to hit you. You know how when you're doing it you get that first hit in, and get away fine? That's because you were far enough away to be able to run away again.

What it means is that you can't hit dad every time, only when it's in your favour. Reply to this if my answer isn't good enough, and I'll go back and play it again.

I am stuck here too (on Steam), probably just my not loving the controls. I’m sure GB’s advice is good but I’m frustrated.
