The Trifecta of Personal Negatives
So, apparently, the keyboard control is bad (controller is allegedly better), there are no difficulty settings (hard by default?), and no manual saving.

Pity. Looks nice and I like the pirate theme.

I'll keep following it in the hopes they address those things.

Not really... mouse controls almost anything important, fairly smoothly. Difficulty is somewhere between average to hard, until you master the details of fighting. Don't need manual saving when game allows you to restart fights that don't go well.

I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. The mouse is ``fairly smooth"? Are you crazy? Have the movement clicks don't register. Almost every single review of this game (both in the Steam reviews and on YouTube) mentions how bad the controls are... Do you think that would've happened if they were ``fairly smooth"?
I agree in regards to difficulty. In the beginning and in certain fights it can be very hard, but once you reach a point around midgame it actually becomes very easy (if you learn all the rules, which is a crazy stupid design in itself).
But the most ridiculous thing you wrote is that there's no need for manual saving. That is pure cope, you're just fanboying. Saving is about so much more than restarting a fight. I had to play half the game twice because I realized I missed a companion and couldn't actually go back to where he was. Also, there are multiple cases of dialog choices which have a serious impact on the game (in regards to quest rewards, companion recruitment, missable treasure, etc.) which you have no way of knowing before you try. There's a reason why save mechanics are standard in every single game for the past 3 or so decades.
