anyone else having trouble with wall kicking?
I feel like I have to spam it to get anything done and it feels really iffy.

It felt wonky to me at first, mostly when I needed to scale particular walls from the ground. Two tips I have are:
- If you're looking at two adjacent walls, that is, there is a corner, just hop to and from each wall near the corner portion and get to the top that way.
- If you're just out of reach of the top of a particular wall even with using the sunsetter, the best way to get up is this: do a high jump, at the highest point wall kick, and immediately do the sunsetter + jump button combination (LB into A) to backflip onto the top.

What exactly are you having trouble with? It felt pretty intuitive from the start for me apart from the two things above

The thing is by instinct most will probably assume it works like in the Mario games where you tap jump right as you touch the wall, but here you actually want to press the jump button before and between touching the walls.

If you have Sunsetter, you can also add a backflip to gain extra height at the end, by doing the same button combo you would do for a long jump, while in the air.

This helped a lot. Thanks.

the kick can feel weird at first but it's all in how you angle it. if it's straight at the wall you get pushed back the farthest. the more you angle it the less you get pushed back.

to ascend/get some distance with the wall kick angle it diagonally toward the wall. that way it doesn't push you away as much. you can then do that 2 more times if needed. if it's a wall that the high jump is just short of reaching, angle the kick and do a second kick straight at the wall and cancel the animation with an attack. cancelling the kick animation helps out a lot. if you still need the extra bit of height, doing the sun setter cancel like wired said should help.

Wall kick feels like it's giving me a stroke. I always launch off at directions I'm not expecting. My mental logic with wall kicks in games is you press the direction you want to go in the opposite of, but this game seems to do it differently and it's messing with my muscle memory. Probably the only complaint I have about the game.

it doesn't behave how you think it would but it feels a lot better here than it did in the gamejam version at least

The best way to visualize how the wall kicking works is the way light is reflected.
You will always launch off at the opposing angle you are approaching the wall.

Yeah, I "get" that now but it's hard to change all my muscle memory. That one powerup orb in the Theatre above the deathpit took me like 15 tries :dis2_Adell:

And then it’s one of the less useful ones that you probably forgot you could even use.

I don't even remember what exactly it was, but I do remember thinking "I spent all this time for THIS?"
Same for the one you need to enemy bounce off that guy several times in a row for, near that crumbling bridge up high in one of the first areas.

The one in the Theater is Aerial Finesse, which lets you press jump to recover from getting knocked down by an enemy faster, but you still drop your weapon.

The one you bounce off the enemy for is Pilgrimage which lets you walk slowly while healing instead of having to stop completely.
