1920 X 1080 please?
I mean sure, most of the games in the collection have a resolution smaller than VGA in portrait. But come on guys? We're PC gamers here, not console gamers. The option would be very nice thank you!

Um... do you mean even the old games? You want them in HD??

Wouldn't that defeat the whole "museum" concept?
Ganger Feb 25, 2014 @ 12:10pm
Maybe he meant a option to show the game in full screen. A full screen option may deafen your eyes alittle tho, it be like watching lego moving about on screen.

All we ever hear these days is 1080p 1080p bla bla. Seriously give it a rest it's pacman ! .

What I mean is, PacMan Museum runs at 1280 X 720. And my monitor is 1920 X 1080. as I said though, the games run in the smaller windows so that they're not dithered, but I want my games to run a sharp as possible. But because I have a 1080p monitor rather than a 720p monitor, there's a bit of upscaling dithering, I'm a pixelphile, get over it! lol :P

I'm actually going to find out if there's a config file I can edit to see if I can run it in 1080p

Aye, PC gamers shouldn't even think in terms of 1080p and all that nonsense... HD and 1080p is just marketing to sell televisions, films and game at people with little knowlegde of how resolutions work.

Unless I go into my attic and haul my 19" CRT monitor down, that and run resolutions between 640 X 480 to 1200 X 1600 with no dithering. Than fair do, it'll look fine. But LCD displays have a static resolution to them, meaing that if it's below the resolution it's set at, it'll have to upscale it, meaning dithering will happen unless you get one of those $100+ external upscalers that have a reduced dither to them.

Plus I tried to see if there were any config files to the game, there's just the executable and DirectX installers...

Far out that's pretty shocking. Hopefully there is a setting in a config file somewhere - this seems to be not so uncommon with product rehashes: the Tony Hawk steam release didn't have the option when it came out, but you -could- set it in a config file ... here's hoping, I might just get it if one can, seeing as Pacmania is in there :).

As I mentioned above, there isn't. The whole game is in a single executable, and the only other files are DirectX Installers.

It's not dithering that is happening; It's bilinear interpolation probably, and that causes blurriness.

Frankly I'm getting really annoyed now that so many game designers do not know how to map fixed pixel number games to new screens so that the original image pixels align perfectly with the screen pixels so they don't get distorted. It's not that bloody hard!!! ! !

OK yeah, I using the wrong word there, interpolation is what I should've used.

And yes, as I moaned before, resolution options is common-place in PC gaming... Why can't we get it. Or at least be able to edit a config file to do so...

Which there isn't any for the game!

1080P is needed because of something called Native Resolution on LCD monitors. If you run a game in 720P on a 1080P monitor it looks bad, because it's not in the monitor's native resolution. Have you ever run an old game and it looks blurry? That's because it's not running in native resolution. It's also why most modern games have all sorts of resolutions even if it doesn't affect the fidelity of the game.

Arbitrary FPS and resolution caps are pretty standard because of the lazy and outdated way these games are made for consoles. They will use ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuses like "vision" to justify doing it, but really the Japanese gaming industry has little respect or interest in PC gaming and lately are only using it for quick cash grabs because the market is good right now.
Do be aware that this was Developed by Namco Bandai Studios Inc. A studio in California. So it's western made, not Japanese. Sure, Pacman is a Japanese game, but this collection was made in the US.

what are you talking about?
almost evry games since 2004 support 1920x1080 resolution
(this only shows a bad & very lazy port)
It would be interesting if they allowed full screen.

Another interesting feature would've been having a look that emulated the old CRT monitors. The CRT monitors would tend to have a little bit of bleed on the colors.

Depends on the CRT monitor...

I have a Sony Wega 20" display that's quite nice. Or was at least nice before I put it in the attic. Age may have not done my monitor any good, lol! I have no idea unless I haul the damn thing down. And TBH I don't want to do that...
