Can someone explain the Sotfs Version to me?
Ok did I get everything right or am I wrong in some points:
I bought Dark souls 2 some months ago so I can play it when I get a new PC. Then they announced this edition including dx11 graphics and so on including every dlc.
If i got it right I get nothing but some patches and a slightly better story? No dx11 upgrade?
If I want the DX11 version I can't just buy a upgrade like a dlc so my dark souls 2 gets upgraded to dx11. I need to buy the Sotfs edition which includes Dark souls 2 again?
Pls say me this is not true. I thought From Software wasn't going to make profit of dark souls 2 on cost the Fans who bought it earlier not knowing there will be something like this.

You got it right. To play the DX11 version of the game, you'll have to re-purchase Dark Souls II and begin all new characters (Saves are non-transferable).

I hope they will make it cheaper for people who own the game already, because im not really looking forward to pay another 40,50 bucks or watever

They are "remaking" the game but really all that's changing is enemy AI, enemy placement, and a reworked story that might actually be interesting. Oh, and DX11 and more phantoms.

There's really nothing in there that warrants the price of an entire game, it's absurd. But I'd like to point out that FromSoftware is owned by BandaiNamco now, and they're the ones calling the shots on pricing and marketing, not From.

I'm sorry if From suffers, I fell hard for DS1 and really enjoyed DS2, but this is just straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I hope BandaiNamco gets sued out of business for trying to resell a game they just released earlier this year. There's no way this is legal, moral, or ethical.

You don't have to buy the remake. You get the new story anyway. The only thing you get is the more player and dx11 and enemy placement. No1 makes you to rebuy the game, also you don't know if there will be loyalty discount or something. I won't buy the game for full price eighter.

But you are right, Namco Bandai should've not do this this way. The only thing that bugs me is the split tho. Hopefully there will be something done against it.

Then blame Bandai. If they know they will do this, they should announce it before the "bad" Dark souls 2 is available to buy. But then they won't make 1000x more profit because some/most (idk) people want the upgraded version. I will just wait a half year and buy it from (g 2 a dot com) when it is on sale for steam if I can't buy it for a discounted price. Lets say about for 35-40$ for those who don't have dlc's and for every additional dlc they have they have to pay 7-10$ less.
That would be at least fair and worth the price since you get all dlc with it.

Hey! We just released a game, then released DLC in 3 SEPERATE packages so we get MORE money. Now if we slightly tweak everything the way it was supposed to be in the first place, we can DOUBLE OUR PROFITS AGAIN. GREAT IDEA!! Over the whole thing they will have made 3x the profits of a normal game, because people won't make a stand and say no, I won't buy it.

From needed to not sell out their company. They just became another company tumor on the market under their new owners. No one wants these terrible market scams that tear apart fans and community. You are asking to not get sales.

^this. Since I heard of dlc I never ever bought them except I know its quality that I get and it has enough playtime to not to be overpriced and actually this almost never happened... I have bought only 2 dlc so far: Binding of isaac: wrath of the lamb. And both of the Mario Kart 8 dlc's. Both together adding 16 New tracks and more than a half of them aren't even from older games. So they added almost half of the content of the original game for only 12€.

The best thing is they're alienating the DX9 servers. Making a separation between DX9 version servers and DX11 version servers. In the SAME PLATFORM for Gwyn's sake.

I'd rather have a DS1 DX11 version if we have to pay for a game we already have.

if they would make a ds1 remake it would cost 40-50 bucks for sure. wouldn't going to pay that again.
El Fuerte Dec 16, 2014 @ 3:06pm
Except SotfS isn't a remake. it's the same freaking game again with some features we should've had on day one buy, and they're (probably) going to ask full price for it.
