Why U so TRYHARD everyone?! warning rant below....
So I am usually playing with SL 80-180 and SM 400k-2mil in the arena and get paired up with people who are way hihger level and waaay less cooler.
By less cooler I mean people in the arena are super tryhard......chaos blade, ice rapier and buffs everywhere. Am I the only one here who doesnt use GMB, weapon buffs and homing soul mass or pursuers all the time!? It is just soooo annoying to put on buffs and GMB looks so stupid too.
I have a bright red bright aura on me and I dont use OP stuff I use stuff that i like and looks cool and try to enjoy the game but its hard with people shooting at me when i bow and such.
As consequence I would say tryhard people make it harder for everyone and even to themselves to enjoy the game.
I would like to hear some thought on the matter if you bothered to read it all.

ps: i have 1250hours in the game so i know pretty well that im right i just want to hear someone agree with me :)
Not expecting much though since the 90% of the community who im bashing in this rant is going to be answering below....so if you use 2 or more buffs dont even try to be a smart because i probably already beat your lvl400char with a lvl80....

i never understands peoples complaints aganist tryharding, it's a game, why would you not try to win? i just dont understand it.
You can get more enjoyment and satisfaction if you are not tryhard. But you need skill to do that. So you'll never know.

And it's not about win. (except arena, that's about win, especially the red one) If you play for fun, not for win you gonna have a much better time. And some people do it. I win without being tryhard all the time, so it's easy for me. I play for win AND for enjoyment. Not everyone can do that tho.
thats a completely subjective thing, each person will have their own fun, but a point of a game is to win, so to complain about somebody trying to win seems childish. people will play how they want, cause that's whats fun to them.

I generally do not mind pvp-centric invaders, unless I'm say in a hard area and have a lot of souls on me. Then I try seedy things like seed of tree or switch to imba gear (I run a fire and dark berserker blade for pve, when I get invaded you're getting my poison darkdrift and manslayer)
I think the problem many people that aren't very into pvp have is that they think literally every invader is some overpowered cheese gear using backstab/parry fiend. While this will be true a lot of the time, not everyone invading is going to be running those tactics. I know its hard to believe, but some cracked red invaders do use fair weapons/gear and are respectful to the host

to me, when i see a tryhard player, it just tells me that they are not confident in their own ability to play the game for what it is. this is dark souls, if you're playing to win, you need to go play another game, cuz this game is hard and it's unfair. it's a survival horror game at the core still, even with all its RPG frills and action combat. to arm yourself in the most OP gear possible totally defeats the purpose of the game and it's too bad that people want to play this way, cuz they are missing out on a really good game.

Don't let your gear play the game for you.

what would you expect in any other game if someone is over 3x your lvl?

Totally man, I remember when I first read the Gameinformer article for Demon's Souls back before it even came out. I was so pumped honestly. My first playthrough of that felt very overwhelming and survival based. To the point where I was even scared to leave the Nexus with more than 20k souls on me lol.

It was honestly one of the very small few RPG games I had played at the time that didn't give me that hand holding feeling whatsoever the entire time.

players say they want a mature game that doesn't hold their hands.. then they go online and google "MOST OP WEAPON AN ARMOR" lol it sucks the challenge right out of the game cuz even after all these yrs player still dont understand that dying does not equal losing in souls and if ur not dying u are OP and overgeared for an area.. or u have crazy pro gamer tournament edition skillz, but most likely the former.

the game is supposed to be a STRUGGLE - without the struggle a victory is meaningless

Im a newcomer here. got the game a bit ago, before BAndai Namco released the new edited version, so dont start screaming at me about that. It seems that there will always be people using overpowered weapons because they want o have a beatdown and nothing more to "kill scrubs who dont use their weapon". For those people, i personally think that using an overpowered WEAPON is kind of acceptable, like a little underuber. But full on Uber smashing people is just wrong. You get no satisfaction. Challenge yourself. You're really not a good souls player if you rely on crutches. Thats my experience from Ds1. For the people that hate the tryhard ubers, beat em. The only way you're goig to ever show them is beat them.

So beat them. Show them. Win.

I don't see anything the matter with buffs, as long as in a duel both sides allow the other to buff reasonably before engaging.

Ah, the problem with the two arenas is the people using them, this is not a critique, but merely a statement, they are in my experience usually either;
A: People trying to rank the covenant, who will do anything to win, because if they don´t they lose progress, either by wasting a token or a previous victory.
Or B: The hardcore pvp-crowd who do not care about cool or fair, only about using the game and their skills to beat an opponent, who treat DS2 pvp like a game of chess, they´re not going to hang back with the queen to be good sports, they´re going to try and steamroll you any way they can using whatever tool at their disposal.

who treat DS2 pvp like a game of chess,

The basic argument is the same as those who hack or use exploits to gain every advantage they can to win (not saying that being a tryhard is the same as hacking, just that the argument is the same). They gain enjoyment from winning, to them, winning is seeing that they defeated you, no matter the cost, style, or method. You gain enjoyment from creating a character, roleplaying said character, and defeating (or nearly defeating) said tryhards. Both sides are coming from seperate sides of the fence, and that is the issue.

I personally side with you, I enjoy creating a well rounded character with set limitations that is (to me) fun to play, rather than doing what is most effective every single match ever, but apparently we are the odd ones out.
