DARK SOULS™ II

The DLCs have turned SL1 Builds into things of insanity.
At SL1 through proper use of the Crown of the Sunken King from it's DLC, the Strength and Dexterity Rings from the Crown of the Old Iron King DLC, and the Vessel Shield from the Ivory King DLC, along with some careful switching in of the King's Crown and the Intelligence and Faith rings to meet those requirements...

These notable weapons can be used one handed:
Shadow Dagger
Flamberge
Roaring Halberd
Homunculus Mace
Uchigatana
Great Scythe
Scythe of Nahr Alma
Silverblack Sickle
Channeler's Trident
Silverblack Spear
Drakekeeper's Sword
Puzzling Stone Sword
Varangiant Sword
Chaos Rapier
-> Ice Rapier <-
Bloodied Whip
Blue Flame
Mace of the Insolent

These notable weapons can be used two handed:
Butcher's Knife
Avelyn
Arced Sword
Bandit Greataxe
Greataxe
Great Club
Large Club
Old Knight Hammer
Black Dragon Greatsword
Bluemoon Greatsword
Claymore
Defender's Greatsword
Mastodon Greatsword
Mastodon Halberd
Heide Greatlance
Black Knight Ultra Greatsword
Greatsword
Zweihander

And, if you are completely crazy, you can equip the Crown of the Sunken King, the Strength Ring, the Dexterity Ring, the work hook, consume a Vine Balm, and you will have the stats necessary to two hand SANTIER'S SPEAR at Soul Level 1. For 45 seconds. But still.

These are the most notable entries I could note as I theorycrafted for a Dark Souls 2 Soul Level 1 Build.

I joined the one bros in Dark Souls 1, I must say my options are looking much brighter in Dark Souls 2. The standouts for me are the Uchi, the Old Knight Hammer, the Greataxe, the Defender's Greatsword, the Shadow Dagger, the Roaring Halberd, and the Ice Rapier. The Arced Sword is also curious, I didn't think a Curved Greatsword would make the list.

Hell, if you look at the complete list, the only two weapon categories that remain completely unrepresented at Soul Level 1 are the Greatbows and the Twinblades.

Also, Ring of the Embedded gives SL1 builds 7 free points of Vigor, Vitality, and Endurance. Each.

Granted, you have to get those items first, but that can be done with the Mace.

Discuss.

"they don't make the same kinds of sl1 runs i did when i was a kid, anymore";

but yes, you're right, some dlc items really help sl1 characters a lot; on the other hand, some dlc bosses are much more annoying than the ds1-dlc counterparts, so i'd see why some of these items make sense when a sl1 char has to fight the fume knight, or aava, for example

I remember the days when you got yourself a Reinforced Club, a couple of slots for whatever pyromancy you wanted, maybe a Hand Axe and some armor and that was it.

Chaos Reinforced Club +5 - 195 Phys/223 Fire
With 10 Humanity - 236 Phys/269 Fire

Granted, Pyro in those days did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage.

Although I do want to see what the average player would think if they looked at a summon sign, saw the name 'LevelOneSoul', and saw the dude in Jester's with a Greataxe. Or an Old Knight Hammer, infused with fire, then buffed with Flame Weapon.

Fire Old Knight Hammer +10 - 350 Phys/ 350 Fire
When Buffed with Flame Weapon - 350 Phys/520 fire

That can happen now.

Oh yes.

We are not cavemen, DYNIA. We have technology.

And we have rings like the Simpleton's Ring which gives us +5 ADP. Add in the Vessel Shield for +1 ADP and our combined total of 12 ADP and 6 ATT gives us 90 Agility.

That's just enough to bump up our rolls I-frames a little bit if you need the extra boost. Now we have 9 frames instead of 8, while still not a lot, it has value.

SL1 can get 92 agility: 2 Pieces of Peasant's Gear (not counting hat) and Simpleton's Ring. Helps a bit against those wide attacks.
