Maxed out Spell Power
I am trying to maximize my spell atack power. I Like using Dark Orb as it hits like a truck. I have 99 Int / Faith and 75 Atunement. I have been playing with gear to help boost SAP. Using Dark Clutch, Abyss Seal, Sunset Staff +5, Cloranthy Ring +2, and the stam boosting Rose Shield. The 4th ring I change out depending on situation (more spells, faster casting, whatever is needed). I tried the Red Tearstone Ring as it has been mentioned that it boosts spell AP but this does not seem to bear out. I use the Giant Lord as a base line to measure attacks but I seem to be maxed out at 696 per cast on him regardless of what else I do to boost. I can speed up casts with other gear but I don't think I can boost AP any more. I have tried the Chaos Shield and the new vessel shield which states that it boosts abilities but Im still sitting at 696 damage per cast. I realize that I can do more damage against other mobs as I hit smaller giants for around 5K on some casts but the Giant Lord allows for consistant measurement.
Are there any other pieces of equipment that boost spell AP without doing it by raising Int/Fth as mine are maxed and this gives no added benefit. I still need to get Unleash Magic but asside from that...?

against giant lord i land aprox. 1300 dmg with a crystal soul spear, maybe hes got good dark defence, assumed you are an hexer. Anyway there are also rings that improves elemental damage, but just slightly.

Well if you are going for the highest possible single hit damage, there is Izal's staff from the 3rd dlc, but its cast speed is extremely slow and it cuts down your casts as well. You could also try the blue dagger from the 2nd dlc as an off hand for 5% more spell damage.

Giant Lord has very, very low dark defense.

Azal's Staff +5 only shows 160 magic / 160 dark and it can't be infused. Magic Staff of Wisdome +5 sits at 297 magic while infused (no dark capabilities at all) and Magic Retainer Staff +10 lists 340 magic (infused) and 199 dark.

retainer's staff also provides no scaling. No good stuff.

Just saw that. An extra 540 to Azal's with the scaling.

Because of the S scaling on both int and dark, but staff of wisdom and chime of want are far stronger once infused.

I use Sunset Staff for hexes, Chime of Want when needed, Staff of Wisdom for sorcery and Dragon Charm for mirracles
