Storywise? The only one with a decent story is Ivory King
Itemwise? All of them are great in the sheer amount of upgrade materials/weapons/armor/general items you get from doing them and clearing them all
Replayability? Low really, they all get tedious after doing them once. Especially the boss fights in ivory king/sunken king
Difficulty? Ohhh boy are some parts of them difficult. Ivory King if you go in without a guide you're almost guaranteed to die a few times at least.
All three also have a "challenge" area as a sort of fun side area that kind of tests your abilities as a dark souls player. All three of them have annoying aspects, with Ivory King's standing out as probably one of the most frustrating areas in any of the games, right up there with Tower of Latria part 1 in Demon's and Tomb of the Giants in DS1
My recommendation? If you're really into the game buy them. Especially if you plan on doing multiple playthroughs with characters. Generally you want to grind a lot before going to new game plus, but with all the souls and items you get from the DLCs you wouldn't even have to grind much save some certain specific things you wanted to farm
How long is each dlc?
about an hour or 2 to run through, grab everything, hit all the switches, kill everyone. longer if you die. which you will the first time you fight the iron king. and the next 5 times untill you go back and check again.
Yeah, length wise they take a few hours each, a bit more if you die or search around for all of the items, which I recommend doing.
Ivory King probably has the most to explore, with iron king at a close second and sunken king coming in third. Sunken King will make you think there's a lot to explore because of how big it is, but a lot of it is empty space or drops that take you nowhere and make you die/aged feather out
If you can handle the new version it might be a good idea for you to do the same..
Here's the full story if someone wants a good read about how dark soul deemed fit to treat me.
I had just entered NG+ when the Sunken king came out and I bought it pretty soon after. For a reason that I can't remember I really didn'y have time to play Dark souls that much and when I found time again Dark souls had a sweet surprise for me, lightingn spear nerf. So I ended up beating Sunken king dlc with nerfed faith build on pretty early NG+ :D Let's say that the boss fights almost cost me a keyboard in frustration, but I didn't give up and man I tell you the feeling when you beat it after that difficulty, it was rewarding.
which in turn (if the only reason to have it is some new weapons & better opportunity for upg. mat.) is big reason why not to buy it, since it resembles pay2win too much
wait for the DX11 Version. its haz 6 Player coop
