For PvP I would say it's worth it, thanks to lag you can land counter attacks easier, for PvE it also works though I find it harder on some enemies since they can tank and poise through your attacks more easily than a human, plus you can't trade hits with all enemies because you would quickly run out of healing items.
i was under the impression (and corect me if im wrong) but isnt counter dmg any dmg dealt while they are in an attack animation? could be before they hit you and just after they hit while they reset?
Keep in mind that Old Leo just affect the counter damage of THRUSTING attacks though.
Due to the damage increase of your counter attacks you will receive a minimal amount of poise damage boost on your counter attacks for using the ring, but it is hardly noticeable and the ring won't give you any sort of bonus for regular attacks.
If you're using a thrusting weapon you'll definitely want to have the leo ring though. Doesn't matter if you're doing PVE, or PVP.
In PVE, a lot of bosses and enemies have stupidly long and flashy attack animations, and you'll be receiving counter attack bonuses for attacking them throughout the whole animation. The damage stacks up *really* fast. Just make sure you're not standing in front of them, as that never seems to get a happy ending.
For PVP, Old Leo Ring + Stone Ring along with any fast attacking thrusting weapon (Spear/Rapier) is pretty much auto win. Just wait for them to do the first move and counter them to death in the first combo.
the dragon tooth is one of the easiest things to avoid....especially after fighting Havel with just an un-upgraded bandit dagger in DkS1. Slow but very unforgiving if you get hit by it haha
haha, true that. Let's hope they fix the multiplayer aspect of the game with Sins. If they do i'm throwing my money at them without question
