So, Drakekeeper's Ultra Greatsword is a thing.
How bad should I feel for not knowing that this weapon existed until now, after 340 hours and several playthroughs?

there are websites filled with things i do not know about this game after 256 hours of gameplay, I dont think you're in too much trouble for not knowing one thing.

or we're both filthy casuls who need to get good

It's an awesome looking weapon, and also it consumes stamina just above what a regular Greatsword consumes... It the the least-stamina consuming UGS out there and the damage and scaling are also great.~

wut? i've tried all ugss/gss and this one definitely is nothing special
half of the ugss are meh for me because of hammer moveset (i think this applies to drakekeeper's), the ones i'd find somehow interesting are greatsword because of its reach & rolling 1hr1 and zwei for its low reqs and tracking (though i haven't used it much)

Eh, no. Drakekkeepers UGS is Zwei class UGS. It's 70 AR less than UGS Greatsword ( same S scaling but a bit lower base damage). Also, the reach is sub-par. Where it excels though, is super-low stamina consumption that will make you think again weather this is a UGS or not. While in PVP, people tend to go with the best in class, like those two UGS you mentioned, but there is no reason not to use this, as with such-low stamina consumption ( it IS the lowest, as I have played with em' all and I remember noting it down for this feature )... It has the poise break of a UGS, combining with never -ending swings,(which are the faster ones in UGS as it is a Zwei Class) it's awesome for PVE.
Most importantly, it's one of the most rad-looking weapons out there. PITCH BLACK.
Edit: As most people tend to two-hand UGS, the Greatsword class weapons have vertical R1's, making them bad for crowd control, something very important for UGS -users. This weapon, on the other hand, has horizontal slashes. So, it's basically a Zwei with more damage, less reach (biggest and only downfall), much lesser stamina consumption, and fashion souls.

level up 99 end and stamina usage is no problem
90% of players cannot cope with rolling r1 of THE greatsword, this is the move i like the most
i'll look at 2hr1 of Drakekeeper's though; still - you can get THE greatsword extremely early and there's no other weapon that would look so falic (that dragon's gs you get by levelling covenant has subpar output) in this game

Well, I never said it's the best UGS, particularly for PVP. Obviously, the UGS Greatsword trumps everything besides maybe Crypt Blacksword for those PVP situations. It never hurts to try other weapons of the same class is what I meant, especially in PVE. I particularly don't like the chipped, unwieldy, rusty gray look of it... Maybe it looks appealing to some people... On the other hand you have Drakekeeper's, sharply defined, pitch black and engravings in some language. <3

Huh, I never expected a thread mocking my own ignorance to generate such informative posts. Thanks for the insight, Akshay. The character I've been playing recently was built for the UGS Greatsword but I might upgrade Drakekeeper's and give it a try for a while.
