The Emerald Herald missing?

I just recently started playing DS2, I just got the key to the blacksmiths place, I went back to town and unlocked the door, The wiki says I can level up or some ♥♥♥♥ by talking to the emerald herald, I saw her on my other character by the bonfire, However, She is no where to be found on this character. any solutions? I havnt killed her, she wasnt here when I first got to town either.

I've heard of this happening before. It's likely someone killed her. Hackers have a habit of invading Majula and screwing you over. :(

The Herald starts away from the Bonfire, so look around a bit more. She also moves around to different places around the fire.

The "haxors invaded me in Majula" thing is a bunch of nonsense though. To get "invaded" in Majula you have to not be in Majula (Huntsman's/Heide's) and then have them work their way back. As the Majula areas is usually unloaded in memory (or part loaded) random NPCs wont appear or they'll just crash, and you can't directly invade there.

It's not so much non-sense as it is part of an actual hack that allows you to invade, literally, anywhere.

I've had it happen to me once in Majula, but all the red phantom did was try to get me to pick up a flurry of items on the ground (which I did not, I instead disconnected).

Check by the tree on the far right when you first enter Majula, maybe she's blending in and you just missed her? Restart the game too, she tends to show up in random positions. If not, look for a headstone. She might be dead.

Look harder. She is probably around you just didn't look hard enough lol. Never happened to me in over 200 hours of gameplay, so to quit a game because you think you were hacked....is just plain stupidity

Well, finding a gravestone... knowing i didnt kill her.. sounds like I got hacked.. and I just learned about backing up saves lol. would have been nice to know

The problem is, for all the accusations, none of them have any kind of real proof. Also you said before you'd "heard of it happening"? :p

The only thing that really work removing fog gates in their world to allow the summons/invaders to pass through, directly invading in Majula can't work because of how the game does things under the surface.

So it's much more likely it's something more mundane, theres a million ways to accidentally kill her, and some you don't even notice happening. If she has been killed she'd be by the tree after you kill a few bosses (though as it sounds like it's at the very start, so just make a new character).

You are full of ♥♥♥♥, this is technically impossible w/o you allowing the red phantom to go with you . There are loading triggers between heides/huntsman/FOFG that will need to be loaded locally (thus on your PC), for the red phantom/whatever phantom to join you.

Also, as of the latest patch, they have made it impossible for invading parties to kill your NPC's. So OP, take a good look around.

@Crim you find just as many immature hackers in DS2 as in other games, its a part of gaming. If you can't get over that, then you wont enjoy any online gaming at all.
That said, with reading all of this, i don't think you've been hacked. It is most likely a glitch. Considering you JUST started, and prob just seen 1% of the game yet, just start a new character. Most people do like this first time; Start new character, play a bit, get screwed while learning the game, and then most ppl tend to start over with a new character, to do it "properly". Very few finish the game with their very first character ;)
As for the game, its hard. It has a long and steep learning curve, but the rewards are great. When you finally beat that really hard boss for the first time, you'll be standing in your chair, celebrating with warcries ;)
Dont give up yet. And btw, i would not use the savegame backup method too much, as there are lots of rumors of penalties for doing so. But another tip is to go offline with the game (block the exe in firewall or temp disconnect internet after starting your game and reconnecting after msg "lost connection with steam, going to offline mode".
